help i can't do it!!!!!!!!!!

I am having problems with that too, I do know that your ringtones need to have wma extension but that still does not guaratee you that they will make it to your phone. I'm learning that Verizon is very picky about what you want to do with YOUR phone.

Just email whatever sounds clip you want (yes, mp3 format will work) to <your number>@vzwpix.com and when it shows up, just go to options, save as ringtone. This method (I just did this) seems to degrade the sound quality greatly, so use bitpim instead. it's a piece of cake to use it. There are LOTS of posts about how to use it.

I have tried that and if the message gets through, there is nothing attached. Also, the size of the file has to be real small, approximately 130kb or is does not get through. Is there any recommendations on the settings for the ringtone when creating it?

I emailed a ringtone to my phone about 5 minutes before I posted about it (I'd hate to post information I hadn't tested) and it worked just fine.

When it arrived, it was cut down quite a bit in size and quality, and it was in qcp format, which I found odd. The sound quality made it sound like Verizon has little old ladies in a call center somewhere that played it from a static-ridden speaker and recorded that to their phone, and forwarded the qcp file to me. But either way, it showed up. Then I promptly deleted the file, and transfered over the mp3 via bluetooth for good sound quality. But we now have a proof of concept (although, this proof already existed)... so.. now I have a proof of concept and you owe me 50 cents.

I wish I was making this up but I really can't get any mp3 or wma, which is what Verizon told me it needed to be, to come over to my phone. I managed to get one ring tone but it was very small and it was just a line from the movie Austin Powers. As for the 50 cents, the check is in the mail.

On a different website, mobileforums, I found out that I have to turn my mp3 player on and they showed me how. Menu - type 0 - service code 00000, go to number 11 and turn the mp3 on.

Ah, the title of the thread was referring to firmware version three. I just assumed that's what you had. In v03 firmware, you don't need to turn the mp3 player on. Heh. All's well that ends well, I guess.

I was still having problems with getting a ring tone to my phone, however, I read on one web site that the person emailed his/her computer and did a reply back to the phone with that ring tone attached and that did work for me. Now I need to find information on getting the ring tone to sound better and louder. I am using Audacity but I need to know what settings to use.

I have tried the emailing method and unfortunately, I have the same problem as ncognetoe. No matter what size or file type I send through email to my phone, no attachment shows up. All I get is a simple text message with the name of the file inside like this: <<file.mp3>>. I have tried with an mp3 extension, .mid, and even .qcp and all do the same thing. I have sent files as small as 50k in size and still the same thing happens. I'm wondering if this might have something to do with what is included in your plan such as what messaging package you have if any, Vcast package, etc. I have an old $5/month messaging plan that isn't supposed to include anything other than text messages (unless I pay per message of course) but they've been letting me send pic msgs without a per charge. I won't tell if you don't....LOL.

Anyway, I guess my thought is that perhaps they allow attachments depending on the plan packages you have on your line.

Jugenjury, the first thing you need to do is make sure your phone is set to play mp3, see previous messages for that, and then try my last message, send a picture from your phone to your computer, then from your computer, reply back but then attach the mp3/ring tone to it. This does work for me.
