Hello all,

Please forgive any questions that have already been answered- I searched and was unable to find answers:

1) my p1i does not have any themes or ringtones loaded- when I try to switch the ringtone- I only have 1 option- where are they?

2) I got my personal email to work- but, when i tried to set up my activesync
I got to page 2 and it had a button to verify. It took forever and came up with an error- anyone have any secrets on how to get this to work. I had my nokia n95 set up easily. I entered my server name and # and no go.

also, does the p1i support ms exchange folders?

3) how / where do I check the firmware? I want to dl the latest but dont know where to get it- also I only have a mac/apple- anyway to bluetooth it to phone or OTA?

4) I dl the isync plugin- but the mac and p1i cannot find one another- I have a new macbook- is it the firmware on the p? - I cant figure it out.

5) do people use screen protectors/shields- any suggestions (I never had a touch screen)?

6) any free sms threader programs?

7) is there a way to put a timer on the key lock?

If you cant find any themes just use the built in browser and click the fun and downloads link. There should be themes and sounds there, i believe.

You might have made a mistake entering either your server name or password or your connection type. Make sure the connection you pick is part of a group allowed to access the net.

I use a screen protector and i think most other people do too.

I dont think the activesync program syncs folders

I have no idea about mac stuff

if you're gonna use a screen protector i suggest u buy an exim one. u can find them on ebay. they are worth about 10-15 dollars but they are worth every penny. i've had them on my p900 for over 4 years and its still going strong. its a hard film and not the flimsy kind that usually fall off.

hey has ne one try to pair the DS970 BT headphone with the p1? i am able to listen to music but when someone calls me i would have to physically listen to the caller with the phone and not the headset. i restarted the phone delete and repair the headphone with the p1 and still unable to do it? its weird i used it with the k790 and when someone calls me i can pick up the phone with the bt headphone but it just won't do it with the p1?

any ideas?

no issues with... have you tried to transfer the sound to headset

reset your headset... do you know how? i think it's press and hold power and answer button it will reboot twice...

google or look in manual i can't remember... the headset can be master reseted...you press and hold 2 keys.....

idk i master reset the phone and it works now. oh well, now the thing is creating those playlists. its so much harder to put the songs into the playlist. cuz i have lots of chinese songs and the phone can't read chinese text so its all a bunch of ??? so i just put them into a folder called chinese in the m2 card but it won't let me choose the folder and use put it into the playlist so i had to guess, but the other way i found out to make a playlist is in winamp.

any suggestions that makes this task easier?

go to more, setting, preferences, files and change the language and see if that works...

just got my p1i... is there any way to silence the shutter sound? i have it on silent, and that eliminated the autofocus lock beep, but the shutter sound still goes. when i'm in the camera options, i can choose between 4 shutter sounds but the "Off" one is greyed out and I can't pick it =(

i wonder if anyone could help me with my dilemma ....i currently have the nokia e61i and im looking to get a new phone, i was thinking of the p1i or the blackberry curve which is coming out for tmobile on the 24th of september. i mostly use my phone for texting, web browsing, some email and pictures.

the only thing that bugs me about the bb curve is the web browser and i pretty much love all the features of the p1i

that is becuase of it's place of origin... just like nokia you'll have to flash it to a different region...

I think you just answered your own question

I find typing on the P1i easier than the E61i due to the predictive text.

Web browsing is great with opera mini

Saw the P1i on sale at Fry's Electronics here in the Bay Area, CA for $499.

I am currently on ATT - will I have any problems using this phone on ATT with my media max package? I use a nokia e62 now and regularly use the internet

Can I use the P1i on ATT for internet? Do I really need 850 here in the bay area? Thanks in advance

my device actually shut itself down today and gave me the message at start up saying that the device was restarting to improve performance. this is the first time in the month or so that i have had the p1i that this has happened. i started to laugh when it happened because this would happen often with all of the wm smartphones and even the n95 i just had too. i just love how stable the p1i is for day to day use

Took a month for that to happen? I managed to do that twice on the display P1i in my sony store and it happened to my own P1i within the first hour of receiving it. Other than that, it's been performing well... just don't like that mine is a US version FW with the camera sounds but oh well.

Got the phone for a couple days now, ive had the phone shutoff on me once... since then, been doing alot of web browsing, music, camera, etc and no problems. Opera mini 4.0 is a must, the default browser licks balls. Probably because ive been spoiled by the nokia web browser, which is the best in the game imo, using the SE one was a total pain. Besides from the reception issue, where there are a couple deadspots where i can't get any reception, i feel this phone will be more then enough for what I need it to do in the next 2-3 months. I perfer the M600i look over this phone, i dont like the silver/black scheme (should've made it all black) but other then that give the phone a try.

for the last 3 nights the phone re-boots its self.
anyone have this problem? how can I fix this?

also I uninstalled a few programs and when the phone re-boots it asks me to install these removed programs- how do I get rid of them

hey does the p-series have the bluetooth remote function like in most of the other SE phones? cuz i got a powerpoint presentation next week and im hoping to use my new phone to change the slides.

i remember someone askng this b4 but wat's the best way to transfer all ur contacts form the p900 to p1i? doing it thru bluetooth, to the pc software suite. a backup of some sort? i tried searching but wat came up wasnt wat i was looking for.

i was able to send all my contacts thru bluetooth. lucky me. another question has arised since i started playing with the p1. like in the messaging area, sms and email, is there a way to read the next mail while already in reading mode of mail or text without having to go back and click on the next text or mail. like in gmail or any email system there's a next or previous button instead of having to go back into the inbox to click on the next email.

well i found out that the p1 can be used as a remote control for bluetooth enable comps but i can't seem to find out how to do it. The sony ericsson white paper clearly said it on page 40 and i try sending myself a .hid file made from SE's own program but the phone won't recognize it. so idk wats going on?

i guess no one know how to fix this, i emailed SE and they replied saying for me to call their tech support.

Now i have another issue, just wondering has anyone use the business card reader and unable to change it out of black and white and macro mode.

I've had mine for 2 days so far...

There are so many things I really love about this phone, the WiFi configuration util is very powerful for instance, but overall so far I have to say:
P1i < P910a

Why won't they release a P1a?!? I'd even settle for a P990a.

Hi, I just got my P1i a few days ago and realized it came with WayFinder 7 (the actviation code + bluetooth GPS reciever). I just learnt that in order to use Way Finder software, I must have GPRS service everytime i use the GPS system, my plan currently doesnt have GPRS service... Is there any software that I can use with the bluetooth GPS reciever (BT GPS X-MINI Receiver) so that my p1i can act as an GPS navigation system without the needs of GPRS service?

I am still quite new to the whole idea of GPS navigation system......so any help would be appreciated!!
