Alltel v3m(m) - Is it Possible to....?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I use Alltel as my carrier. I have a v3m(m) and I like the bluetooth and SD card capabilities, etc. Unfortunately, it is a BREW phone, and I can't run java apps. On top of that, I have seem edited the heck out of it, and so far I haven't been able to add anything to the menu, as Alltel's FW seems to use a different menu structure.

Would flashing to another CDMA firmware that uses java rather than BREW be out of the question? I don't care about axcess apps, and want more functionality...And I want to unlock the various menus that I can't using this FW. As long as I don't lose my memory card and Bluetooth functions in such a flash, I would be all for it.

I appreciate any advice or help you could throw my way...I plan to post other questions if they come up. (I am a bit of a n00b to hacking motos...this is my first one...I have done other phones, but this is somewhat different).

It would work if you could find a V3m flash that uses java. At the moment there are no java enabled flashes that have been leaked.

Anybody on the boards have a cdma v3m they would want to share a firmware image of? Wouldn't that work?...if they would make a flash image off of their phone? I could edit, hack, and reprogram it from there, couldn't I?

Are there by chance any leaked updates I could get to make a hybrid capable of java?

There is no way to pull a flash image off of a CDMA motorola at the moment. A group of people were close a while back but could never do anything with what they pulled from the phone, and I think they gave up. The only way to get firmware for CDMA moto's at the moment is to have a leaked one, which is basically an employee that had access to a flashing station of some sort that "stole" the firmware file. The only way these "stolen" firmware files can be edited is through seem editing once the firmware is on the phone, and that only gets one so far. You can get leaked flashes here: http://www.humpa.com/vzw/
None of them are java enabled, however.

I take back what I said about there not being any java enabled V3m flashes. I came across a thread last night with the Bell one which is java enabled, but I can't find the link to the thread now. If you were to flash to that, it would be a trade off because you'd have java, but mobile web/axcess apps/tethering would not work. That same thread said that some people were able to get mobile web working via a public proxy or something of that sort, but others weren't able to.

Since everything Axcess has is useless bullcrap, and since I don't have mobile web working (never got it to), and haven't tethered in ages (WiFi) is everywhere, that is a bit of a no-brainer! Thanks for letting me know! I will find it!

Wow. This is exciting. My VZW v3m has been on the Alltel FW forever and I never knew about this Bell Java FW. When you find it please post. This would be great to have. I don't use Get It Now anywayz.

Well guys, good and bad news. Good news is that I found the page - Bell Flash File The bad news is that it's for a V3c, and I didn't realized you had V3m's until I came back to post the link, so if your willing to trade off the memory card slot for java it should be good. Sorry about the mix-up, guys.

I don't have an SD card, and don't really need one, as I have an iPod. I want java for games, and hacking purposes (other people's phones, that is...).

I can just reflash to the Alltel FW for v3m in the event I have to turn it back in.
