Check for Italy under the national operators, also post the same question in the European forum. I believe some of the moderators are based in Italy.

Hey Treatz, I just went there on the March break actually. I used Wind and it seemed to be pretty good. I never had problems with reception (I was using a Motorola ROKR E2) and they have very good data packages where you pay a certain amount for a rather large amount of data (detailed on prepaidgsm.net, the site, not the forum). I actually still have my SIM card and a charger for any Motorola miniUSB phones too if you are interested. And I should mention that Italians are much more guarded on giving out prepaid SIMs to foreigners, you have to have a special number (like our SIN) and show your passport, so having one activated already is helpful. /shameless plug

Also, another great thing about Wind is that they have a special calling cards (I forget the term that you the tobacco shops use when you ask for them, but I could look for one) that only works with Wind mobile phones (no other carriers provide anything like it, and the access numbers for other calling card numbers are blocker by all carriers) that lets you call very cheaply back to Canada. It worked very well for me, and it most cases seemed cheaper then using an actual landline. PM me if you have any more questions.

i learned the hard way that getting a prepaid sim here isnt just walk in and buy. Good thing that my cousin here is basically an italian version of me working for TIM. LOL. so he set me up and all was well.

I appreciate the offer, and would have taken it but i postede the thread rush rush.

as of right now its 10:30 am and im writing this with a brioche and a cafe. Viva Italia!!
