What demo phone did you get?

I start as a Sales Rep at a COR store in a week and am currious as to what is the typical demo phone. I know it will be different for each location, but I thought this might give me an idea of what to expect. Also, how often do you update to a new phone?

when i started i got the horrible cg300 and a blackberry 7130...which i still love. since then i won a phone at a share rally and was given another phone by my data mgr

demo phone? do you mean employee phone? employee phones are usually the cheapest they offer. you can push hard to your manager and usually get an 8525 or something nice like that, but it certainly doesn't change very often. in my 2 years there, we got a nokia 6230, 8525, and a cu500 for 3g.

i have a blackberry pearl now
but i originally had a samsung d357 PTT
and a blackberry 7130. now, i'm pushing for an iphone or curve!!!

at our store, you'll have a better chance of hell freezing over before convincing her to update our COU. the only reason we currently have new ones because our district managers wanted us to sell 3G devices, but i stuck with the pearl and i LOVE IT!!! good luck with your manager giving you a decent one.

All new hires in the WI/IL market received Samsung Blackjacks for their COU when I started in June.

I recieved a Blackberry Curve for my PTT and I requested a N75 for my COU and got it. It just depends on if your manager likes you or not... I guess?

Started two weeks ago... I have an 8800, a Curve, and an N75. Curve was given to me by the RIM rep, ordered the N75 and 8800.

it would always be a yes.

in 7 yrs ive never paid for a phone.

ive had most of them .. and thats not including the contest phones..

depends on your manager...8800 for me, while most of my co workers are stuck with a pearl, they seem to be sticking most of the new guys now with blackjacks.

The folks where I'll be working at got BB Pearls, so I'm hoping that's what I'll get. I'd rather a Curve, but the Pearl's okay.

i got a blackjack cause at the time we were pushing PDA's quite hard. so i got that and a c417 or some crap. since then ive got a cu500v, d807 and purchased the iphone.

Here's another ? then: I've noticed that many ppl have gotten more than one device. In your case ATT*Mark, you got a BlackJack and a c417 "or some crap". Is this normal, store-region dependent, or just a stroke of luck? Wouldn't be too bad if I got a BB Pearl and a V3xx myself.

I have a Blackjack COU and to be honest, I don't have any gripes about it. I talk via BT so the sound quality isn't really a factor.

We either get to choose from the Pearl or Blackjack...I chose the blackjack but I'm going to probably get the curve and use that as my COU.

I am getting a BB Pearl. But I know others in my training class who had to get the SYNCS and didn't have a choice. I wanted a BB instead and I am getting it.

It depends on what market you are in. In the Empire market all COU's must be approved by both your ARSM and DOS. New hires in my district are receiving either the blackjack or the pearl.

I originally got the d407 for my PTT demo. I never really used it because I kept demoing new phones. Then I got an 8125. That was replaced by an E62, then the 8525. My d407 was replaced by a SYNC (I actually still have the d407). My SYNC just got sent back and I should have a platinum V3xx in a day or two.

Cliff Notes: I have a 8525 and a V3xx is on the way.

i'm in the empire market, i started at the begining of july and got a blackjack. the other 2 newbies in my store got a blackjack and an 8525 which always called 911 so they switched it out for an n75. the other reps all have pearls. i'm personally really glad i didn't get the pearl i can't stand it. i would happily take an 8800 though

but over all i enjoy my blackjack.

jut out of curiosity, how long after you're hired until you go to new hire? i haven't gone yet and i'm just wondering

I was hired about a week ago but I haven't gone to New Hire yet. They're still waiting on some paperwork. If it all comes in (which should be today, I hope), then I go to New Hire on the 20th. That's also my "official" start date.

Honestly, thinking about it, I'd be happy with either a BJ or a BB Pearl. I know getting a Curve is wishful thinking. I'd still like to know how new hires (in some markets) got two COU lines in itself. Luck of the draw, or nice managers I guess.

BTW, say I go to New Hire and I get something like a SYNC (yech!). Can I go to my manager and request something like a BJ or a Pearl, or am I just stuck?

I'm currently in week two of training and it took me about 3 weeks to go to new hire. Got my COU within 5 days of being on the job. They gave me the blackjack. Good phone, however it does not allow me to cut and copy text which makes absloutely no sense.

i have a BB8800 as my COU and have a n75 also. I really think they are the best 2 phone out right now as PDA and Standard phones go.

I just got some disturbing news...

I just found out that the distance from my store to the training facility is under 50 miles. More like 41, 42 miles. Does anyone think they'd make an exception in my case and still post me up in a hotel knowing that 1) I don't drive, so 2) I'd have to take public transportation to be there by 8.30a? Comments?
