Greetings All: I installed OperaMini 3.1 on my DASH and now I am unable to run Internet Explorer that came with the DASH. Is there any way to correct this problem? Also, I am unable to connect to WiFi, I can only connect to OperaMini to do all internet on the DASH. Can anyone help? thanks!

Perhaps if you would be kind enough to be more specific?

Errors? What does IE do when you connect? Does it look as if it is trying to connect? Go on, tell more.

Absolutely! When I connect using IE, none of the images show up, it does make a connection but an error message comes up saying "Please use a browser that supports Javascript and Flash Player 8 access" I close it and use Opera Mini and it connects. It does the same thing when trying to connect via WiFi. I use "Internet Sharing" and tether to my laptop, no problems there. Please let me know if there is anything else that you need that may help, thanks for responding!

somewhat related - I installed Opera Mini on my HTC Dash, but I don't know where it is stored..ie I have to reinstall it every time I want to use it, as I can't find where to launch it

any ideas?

^^^if you are using wm6 then opera should be stored under "applications" in the start menu. if you are using wm5 i think it is under "java"

Start>Midlet Manager.

It is located in there.

Not sure how Opera Mini would have done anything to IE? Opera Mini is a Java applications so is installed within the confines of the JVM its running in and I have never seen it walk over anything else on my Dash.

What page are you connecting to that is giving those errors? Also have you installed any other programs or made any other changes to the phone? Say a new Home Screen, or something like that? I had a certain Facade Home Screen that would screw up fonts and that, that carried over into IE and other programs to where I couldn't see text half the time.

Also, Pocket IE does not support Flash 8 and the next closest thing, Flash Lite, is next to worthless as most Flash apps don't support it. What version of Windows Mobile are you running on your device? Is it 5 or 6? You run 6 if you want full-blown JavaScript. I believe Windows Mobile 5 is not a complete implementation.

I don't have anything called 'Midlet Manager' under my start menu

Try looking in Start -> Applications and look for Midlet Manager or Java Applications. It will be the big red lowercase E (stands for esmertec). You can also find in File Explorer under \Windows and look for Java or jeodek and run one of those to get to the Java Applications.

You can then run the uninstall through there.

What data plan do you have? If you were using T-Zones/T-Mobileweb, you'll have to setup the T-mobile Proxy on the device in order to get IE to work again. Them shutting off the open access may have just coincided with your Opera Mini install.

These are my current settings:
1. HTTP> connects from: Work. Connects to: The Internet. Proxy: 153.48.23.20:80. Type: HTTP. User name: (blank). Password: (blank).

2. SOCKS> Connects from: Work. Connects to: The Internet. Proxy: 153.48.23.20:1080. Type: Socks4. User name: (blank). Password: (blank).

3. t-zones proxy> Connects from: WAP Network. Connects to: The Internet. Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080. Type: HTTP. User name: (blank). Password: (blank).

Please let me know if making any modifications will help.....

And you have T-Mobile Data in the GPRS settings set to WAP Network, correct?

Posted by: MaxMarti

yes, I have this set to:
T-Mobile Data: connects to: WAP Network. Access Point: wap.voicestream.com. User name: (blank). Password: (blank). Primary DNS: 0.0.0.0. Secondary DNS: 0.0.0.0. IP Address: (blank).

does this sound right?
