Blackberry Curve just died

I just recently purchased a blackberry curve and last night it just died for no reason. I had just finished makeing a call and got ready to put it in the holster(the one that makes it go into hibernation) that I purchased thru Cingular and it went dead totally. I had half of the battery life left as well. Took the back of the battery off and put another one end form another curve that I purchased at the same time and it would not come on at all. The phone is not even a month old. The only warning it got was a little red light at the top flashing red and then nothing. Could some tell me what could have happen?

Did you get it wet? Where you in the rain?

Simply return it and they will give you another. Under 30 days and they will just hand you a new. Hope you bought it new.

These things happen. RIM makes excellent hardware and this is rather rare but does happen.

has anyone noticed that the curve it alot more delicate than the other Blackberries? I just got mine and it had a small fall out of the car in it's leather case and it took a huge chunk out of the phone.

Same here. Mine had a huge chunk come out of it. I'm buying a case today.

Oh so I sold it and bought a new one.

yeag that's a good idea but i got mine at a discounted price so i don't want to loose out on it... taking better care of it now though lol.

This is my opinion as well.

While I will agree that there have been some quality issues and some irregularities on the very early models, overall RIM devices are very well made. One must take into consideration that overall those of us (myself included) tend to be very picky about our phones. We are also early adopters therefore we are going to be subject to the issues that the first of any new model phones are subject to. As an early adopter I try to take that into consideration when I make the choice to buy the moment the device is released.

Finally there is one more very important fact to consider. Those of us that are reporting failures or problems are a very small percentage of the total number of users of the device in question. Those that are not experiencing problems are out there enjoying their BlackBerrys and there are a huge number that do not participate in any forums, thus it impacts the "perception" of the quality of the device. In addition another consideration is that the BlackBerry, like nearly every other product is mass produced in huge quantities. Therefore even without any design or functionality issues, there are bound to be a percentage that are poorly assembled, or pass through quality control without being identified as having a fault before reaching the customer.
