(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Is There software or something that will let me add my Mp3s into the ringtones folder? On my Father's Phone it had software that I could make a 15 second Mp3 and drag and drop it to a ring tone folder. His phone is old too. I can't belive they wouldn't make something for this...

Sure they wouldn't, they want you to buy your ringers from the BREW apps. Thats the whole point of Brew/CDMA, more money for the provider.

Try this:
http://www.funformobile.com/pages/r...oadRingtone.php

Works fine with my Sprint Phone (KRZRK1M). You just need to be sure you have the ringtones in the right format for your phone. There is also a cool 'free' program called Wavepad that lets you clip and save your ringtones in just about any format you need. Pretty good instructions for getting the ringtones into other formats too.

Instructions: http://www.funformobile.com/pages/help/helpHow.php

Wavepad: http://www.nch.com.au/wavepad/

Good luck,

You should try the "Super (C) converter", which you can get from
http://www.videohelp.com/tools/SUPER_1.
Not only it converts to most formats that you can play on a phone, but
you can identify the format of a movie or ringtone already on your computer
and convert to it.

In addition, it is totally free (full functionality for no money)
I got it to work with my Katana DLX, and uploaded ringtones using my
bluetooth dongle (which costed $5).
Good luck!

try the site on my signature..no need to download anything and your ringtones will sounds loud and clear using the m4a format
that site lets you download the ringtones directly to your handset or you can save it to your computer and bluetooth it to your phone

Would anyone know of a tutorial for converting to 3g2 and where to place the file in the katana dlx? I think the file cannot be over 200 kb in size and where do you put the file? In the phone of mem card?

thanks

There is a "help" dialog on the Super (C) converter program itself.
You need to make sure the sampling rate is right. I've used 11Khz - I know that
works. I don't think you're limited to 200k.

What formats does the DLX support? I have heard m4a however I dont see that in super?

You put Ringtones into your Katana DLX - using the Blue Tooth Dongle - where did you store them - did they actually store in the Ringtones Folder ?? or did they go into your bluettoh folder and then you added them ??

I have not been able to use any of my mp3 files that I have used for ringtones (used them with my Sanyo5500) when I transfer them over to my microSD or to my Phone... it seems that the Katana DLX won't use transfered via Bluetooth or microSD files as ringtones... Is there a way??
Thanks

I used a bluetooth browser to get pics from my phone, and to send files to my phone. Works great. The only problem is, the files that show up in bluetooth, while I can listen to them in the Tools > File Manager (where I have 3 folders, Bluetooth, My Albums, and Voice), I can't use any of them as ringtones.

If I download them over the air via WAP, I can use them without issue. WTF!

Anyway, any guesses? I have .mid (midi) and .pmd (proprietary silliness) that play great, just can't set them or use them in my phone without downloading them OTA via WAP.

I have the same problem...I have 2 different phones, a Samsung t439 (tmobile) and the katana dlx (sprint)...I made my own ringtone via a ringtone maker online, sent it WAP, and it automatically saved to the ringer file on the katana...I would like to bluetooth sync my phones so I can send that same ringtone to my samsung, but I cant...when I scroll the menu, it doesn't say 'send via bluetooth' it just says 'bluetooth'...when I try to sync my phones together, it states no device found...my neice bluetoothed some tones to my samsung, and I in turn synced the samsung with my katana and the ringtone didn't save as a ringtone, it saved in the file manager under 'my albums'.... !!!

I have discovered the same issue. You can create ring tones using several 3rd party applications and so long as you upload to a service where they can be downloaded to your phone, it works. But if you use blue tooth or just transfer to the sd card after you have created the ring tone, you don't have the ability to use the song clip as a ring tone. I have tried converting the mp3 ring tone to several different formats using super c and I saved the file in just about every location possible on the phone and sd card with no luck. It just won't give you the option to assign it as a ringtone.

But you can do it if you download it. Which leads me to believe there may be some sort of encoding or tagging that occurs when you download a ring tone vs. creating one and transferring it to your phone via some mechanism. (The problem with downloading it is the per unit cost for each kilobyte of data, still not allowing you to get a "free" ring tone)

Ring tones that are downloaded or purchased still tend to have the same file extension and are located in places that are accessible by the user.

My thoughts are to be able to extract a viable ringtone that was either purchased or downloaded and break it down to determine the difference between that ringtone and one you have created and transferred physically to your phone.

Crude but easy way to add a MP3 as ringtone...
You can add any (from the DLX built-in camcorder) video as a ringtone. Just make a "video" of your radio or PC playing the MP3 and set it as your ringtone. (The video plays only on the internal screen)

I know you can set the video as ringtone to all "Caller ID" and "Non-caller ID" It looks like you can assign a video to a contact, but I have not tried it, yet.

If it is possible to upload a video to the phone (not sure) you might get a higher quality recording.

This works for me I used a IOGear Bluetooth adapter from Wal mart $20.00

Make the ring tone with any ringtone maker as mp-3
I used Super C to convert it to 3gp format
Bluetoothed to phone to my albums
then go to camera options review media
the file will show up there select it and then options set as incoming calls.

There you have it custom ringtones for the Katana Dlx Free

didn't want to create a new thread for a just-slightly different phone

along the same lines, does anyone know what formats a Katana LX accepts for a ringtone? every site i've come across says it accepts MP3 format, but hell if i know how to get 'em on there.

any ideas?

edit: i did try the suggestions in the thread, i just don't know what FORMAT to put it in since apparently mp3 itself doesn't work.

I have MP3's and AAC ringers both on my phone and I had a couple midis. I lost my phone and just got another DLX and every site I go to and upload a ringer to and send it to my phone I am not getting the text and on Sprint Focus some of the ringers are saying attribute Mismatched and they were on my phone before. None of my pictures are uploading that were on my old DLX. I get error messages. I don't know what's going on..
