Dash+Micro SD+Music= Problems

Ok, I just went out and bought a 2GB SanDisk Micro SD Card. I have WM6 installed on the dash. I want to sync music from WMP. I create my playlist so that it will fit onto the alloted 1.86GB on the memory card. When I hit "sync" everything starts up fine and successfully syncs about 50 songs and then it quits!?! I have tried multiple times with no success.

The music on my PC is ripped as WMA Lossless so I know it is being converted before syncing- WMP converts it to WMA 320kbps and it plays fine on the Dash but there is about 1.5GB of unused space on the memory card that won't sync. I appreciate any help. Also, is there a known problem with "Storage Card2" I thought I remember seeing something about that- That is what WMP labels my memory card as when I sync.

Thanks!

I don't sync with Windows Media Player. It is much easier to have MP3 files and transfer.

Mine does that too. I think that the Dash is going to sleep or something. Try hitting a key to wake up the screen every five minutes or so. I know it means you kinda have to sit there while it syncs, but it worked for me.

yeah i had to sit and add on album at a time, but it worked so i'll live with it. now if i could just find some cheap bluetooth headphones...

I don't know about cheap. I bought the MOTOROKR S9 headphones for $130, but they are great. I brought an adaptor for my home so I can use them on my tv, pc, stereo, whatever, when other people in the house are asleep. I got the $100 adaptor for $20 at Radio Shack. I wouldn't have purchased any other bt headphones. These are great.

^^^hey, I was going to order those headphones but I am a little bit hesitant... Are they comfortable? Do they stay in your ears well? Can you work out with them (jogging and so forth) without them falling out? Finally, how is the audio quality?

Thanks!!

Audio quality is excellent. They're definitely CD quality. I use them on the eliptical and they have not fallen out. Comfortable? Well, they go in the ear, so they start to hurt a little if I leave them in too long. But, like I said, I wouldn't go with any other brand because these have great reviews and I love them

Awesome! I just ordered them last night from amazon, as I was checking out amazon gave me a little pop up to try their "prime membership" thingy so I got next day shipping for $3! I can't wait for them to get here.

Thanks!

why dont you guys just drag and drop the files directly with the file browser you can still play the mp3 just perfectly...

Posted by: foot_ball76

I don't use file browser because all of my music is ripped to WMA lossless format and therefore needs to be converted to 128kbps (small enough size and sound quality) WMA before it is put on the Dash. Otherwise I could fit about 23 songs before the memory card is full and I'm not even sure the Dash would recognize lossless files?

Anyway, I got my headphones yesterday as amazon promised and I am VERY pleased! I wore them jogging and they stayed put and were quite comfortable. I highly recommend them to anyone.

You got the MOTOROKR S9?

Posted by: foot_ball76

heck yea I got the S9's. They are awesome. My favorite thing is being able to set my phone on the side of the court and shoot hoops while listening to my music- no skips at all! The range is much further than I expected, I can leave my phone plugged in in the middle of the house and walk around doing chores and whatnot, its really cool. The audio quality is very good even better than I was expecting with the big ear adapter thingy's. These are probably the best purchase I have made all year, well close to it anyway...

Yeah they are great. I got rid of my Dash, but I've been using them with my Upstage phone and the adapter to listen to movies and music from my pc at home. I got one for $20, but I haven't seen one at that price anywhere else.

Because then you have to make the playlists on the phone using some 3rd party app. It's just easier to sync the playlists you want using wmp (that is if it works).

so does the wing play music with speakers, or only through headphones?

I agree with Chinese Chicken: The file browser is the best way to transfer if you are using the usb connection. Just press the "explore" icon on the activesync program after you connect your phone. Just make sure you are putting them in the correct folder (My Windows Mobile-Based Device/Storage Card/Music).

Other than that, I would recommend using a card reader. It can be faster if you get a good card reader.

The only complain I have recently with music is that my Dash is that I've been getting strange buffer delays when playing back music. I just bought a new 2gig Kingston MicroSD card, and I'm wondering if it is this new card. They had them as discount "no-name" branded cards at the register of Microcenter in MA. They were only $20 bucks retail, but after opening the packaging up, you can clearly read Kingston on the card. I'm wondering if they are rejects, because the regular retail price of the 1gig there was $29.99 for a Sandisk. They didn't even sell 2gigs in the main card selection of that store--just these register add-on buys. the performance is like when you stream music from Orb or on the net, and the connection needs to rebuffer. It's really annoying considering I already have the full songs on disk. I'm betting this card is less than perfect, but I'm wondering if a defrag could help?

You guys are lazy. I have a card reader on my notebook (otherwise I'd use a regular card reader) and I just copy my mp3s to the card. Then I Update the library in WMP on the phone. Hella faster than syncing with WMP on my computer. And making playlists on my phone is very simple.

I bought the Motorola HT820 Bluetooth Stereo Headset. It's comfortable but I get skips every 90 seconds or so. The S9 looks a lot more comfortable. I think I might get one.
