rogers bb pearl: i want my own mp3s and videos

is it possible to upload your own videos and mp3s on the micro sd card for viewing and listening? i loaded a few videos that i know should work, and a few mp3 on the micro sd. but when browsing on the phone via the media menu, it shows the card as empty... did rogers block this feature? i can't figure out why my pearl won't detect that i've copied a bunch of media on the card.
sorry if this is a really obvious question. i just got my pearl, and i'm kinda in a rush rite now. hopefully when i log back on someone will have given me some insight. thanks
