hey, everyone just curious about which phone have you kept or used for a long time?

Sharp 902, I had one for well over a year on active use

I've had a Motorola E398 for a little over 3 years now, but it spends a lot of its time in a drawer and only comes out when I need a backup

I've owned a 3595 for longer than any other phone- about 3 years now. I got it on eBay for $17.

The phone I've owned the longest as my primary phone that I actually use is my Blackberry Pearl. I bought it right when it came out in September. Although it has a few flaws, I'm really happy with it overall and haven't found a better compact smartphone.

I also owned a Sidekick 2 for two separate periods time totaling 10 months. It was a really cool device, and the UI is absolutely amazing, but it's just too limited. Specifically, I needed a phone that I could tether to my macbook, and the sidekick doesn't offer that feature. Furthermore, there are many other issues with the sidekick, including the sidekick 3. The screen is horrible, it's bulky, no mms, terrible camera, etc.

Nokia 6100. I used it for 3 years... Very solid and trouble free phone.

The crappy Motorola T720 CDMA since I had to complete the Verizon's 2-year contract.

Posted by: GeminiIII

i've never actively used any one phone for more than 1 year, but i've still got all the phones that i've ever used in full working order (except the t720e). i've still got a nokia 3310 somewhere in one of my cupboards from about 7 years ago.

you have my sympathies . i have bad memories with that phone. the display kept on going weird.
that was in the days before the better companies such as Sharp started making the displays for moto.

The Nokia 6800. A little slow, but this phone has been through hell and still works great. The flip-open keyboard is great, too. Been using it for at least three years.

Nokia 3100 - 3.5 years of use and only after loaning it out did it get messed up.

Posted by: MountainBikerMark

I got an LG 510 in 00 and used it until 02 then my wife wanted it and she used it until late 06. it still works but she wanted a Samsung a930 so I got it for her. best phone I/we ever used/owned

Posted by: Mz_Nextel

i870, i usually upgrade my phone every year, but i am in the process of switching providers, I no longer want nextel

Posted by: LJblock2265

Motorola V710 CDMA best phone I've used. Solid as a rock. 2-1/2 years.

Posted by: jontymisra

Nokia 6100. Back in the days, had it easily for over 2 years.

Posted by: Fishx65

Moto E-815 for 2 1/2 years. Still going strong with original battery! I've turned it off and charged it every night since new. Gonna wait till she dies before I use my new every two with Verizon.

Posted by: Starblazer

Does it count if it had to be replaced multiple times because it was made poorly? If that does, then the Nokia 6360(First 3 1/2 years of USC), followed by my 6585.

BB Pearl, had it 4 months...sold it yesterday.

Four months is the LONGEST you've kept a phone??

Posted by: duba

Treo 700p, had it since October...

Posted by: born in 1969

Bought my Nokia 8890 in February of 2001....actually just used it this week for the first time in about 2 years. Still works like a charm, obviously as far as features go its VERY outdated, but in terms of looks IMO it is priceless.

Posted by: bodeh6

BG - ie Before GSM Nextel i730 for a little under 15 months.

With GSM it was the T637 for 8 months or so. W810i lasted me about 7 months before selling it. Looks like though I might keep my K790a for about 8 months or so. Maybe a little longer until the K850i becomes readily available.

Posted by: dsjr2006

Treo 650 (Sprint) or Moto V3xx, kept both about 5 months. Longest I've kept a phone i think.

Yes four months. Second was about 2-3 months innostream 90.

Posted by: Stogieman

Sony Ericsson T637 - Was my only cellphone for almost 3 years.

Posted by: brawas

The Nokia 8890 I can't remember how long I've had it in total but...

at one point in time I sold it after having it for a while, to get the Nokia 7210 (first color phone I had). Then I missed my 8890 and bought it again. Then I sold it again as it got outdated. Now just last week, I bought it once again to keep as a spare.

Sanyo m1, ill be going on 6 months

Posted by: monkeyboy

Samsung i500 - small flipphone/PDA with touch screen, for four years. I would upgrade if I could, but nobody has anything like it on the market. Too many candybar/brick phones with QWERTY, but nothing small or thin with a flip/clamshell format, PDA and a touchscreen (boohoo)...

Posted by: acagann

You will laugh...my favorite cell phone I ever had was a Motorola StarTac. I still miss that phone. To this day, I think it was still smaller than what I'm seeing out of most of the flip phones.

Posted by: eekflapfire

Nokia 8290 & Nokia 7210...each about a 1 to 1 1/2 yrs.

After those 2 phones, the longest I've managed to keep a phone has been 8 months and that's my Blackberry Pearl 8100.

nokia 6310i , 6100, and 3310 , all still in daily use by parents , and older members of my family , solid , reliable , battery life excellent , and no probs if dropped or stolen , who would wwnt to pinch them ?

I absolutely loved my SE T68i. Am I showing my age. I pimped that phone for about a year and a half. I think I posted over a hundred times just regarding that phone. LOL

Posted by: Mr Yuk

Erikson T39M Still works great; I keep it as a back-up whenever I need it.

Posted by: adreddy1985

I kept an initial production RAZR V3 for 2 years. I suspect the reliability issues came up when they tried to amp up production for the carrier subsidy business; mine was reliable.

UI wasn't so hot, but it made calls better than any phone I had before; the RF was good, and after a minor seem edit earpiece volume was very strong.

Basically it was a good reliable phone for phone calls and not much else. A better SMS interface would have been nice, but camera, music etc; don't matter to me; in that respect I think I am a lot like your typical American, I don't mind dedicated devices and see the center of my digital world as the internet and PC, which is the hub that integrates my various tools with minimal trade offs. An integration that is very difficult to achieve with converged mobile phone devices.

My SE K750i, I bought it on the first release date and still using it

I think it's more than 2 years now.

Just keep on waiting for the iPhone to be available here in Thailand.

Posted by: DVS_WiNdz

Sony Ericsson P990i 7 months now.. not really happy with it, going to sell it when I get the HTC kaiser

Posted by: Adi23

Nokia 6210 is the phone ive used the longest. Ive been using it for six years.

Posted by: DoubleSh0t

Used a LG VX6100 the longest back in my VZW days, next was my 6230 when I joined AT&T. It's still in use by my girlfriend, but it's showing it's age with sound and reception problems cropping up.

Posted by: aznjunkie

My longest kept phone was also my first phone; Nokia 3360. I had it for 2 1/2 years. Now I seem to make it a habbit to change my phone every 1 and half years.

Posted by: ButOne

SE S700i for 3 years and counting....huge screen, swivel design, lots of cutting edge features (for 2004), but thick as a brick. I still use it, when I am not stealing my wife's N95.

I think that my all-time favorite phone was the SE T68i. I used it for 2 years before losing it. My brother-in-law is STILL using a T68i.

The N95 is incredible. I doubt that we will keep it as long as the S700, however, because really great phones are coming. I want the SE W960 when it is released next year and my wife buys a new phone every year.

Posted by: bigd s14

my samsung a670. i got it like 2 years ago, and i still use it as a backup phone

Posted by: luvitlo94

Nokia 6230...............still have it and use it once in awhile from when it first came out.

Posted by: Malibu21

Had the V180 for 2 years, that was before I found the beauty of unlocked GSM
Razr: 1.5 years
8525: 1st one: 4 months, 2nd one: 1 month and counting
Rizr: 4 months, still miss it
E6 ROKR: 3 Months
Maxx V6: 1 month

Posted by: bigb252

Motorola V180. It was one of the best phones I owned, nothing could've compared to it for how much I got it. I still use it as a GoPhone.

Posted by: jayizzbakk

i930 used it for a little over a year and a half

Posted by: baulz

samsung e730

Posted by: jorakal

Motorola E815

Posted by: sushigirl

Sanyo SCP 4500
from Clearnet (Now Telus)

Posted by: RyanM

Oh wow its hard to say... been with so many phones and even providers...

TDMA... I would say my nokia 8260 or 8265

GSM... I would say my unlocked v3....

Posted by: EChid

Hiptop2...such an awesome phone. I miss it a lot. My W810i is on track to take over my record of 3 1/2 months though.

Posted by: char777

Samsung A670. Had it for about 16 months before the hinge finally gave out and broke (just like my brother's and his ex-girlfriend's).

I'm planning on keeping my Sidekick 3 for two years (until December '08), but I know I'm kidding myself. I don't think it'll last that long. I'll probably have to start using my 3250 until my contract ends, but my SK3 has been holding up pretty well so far; I can see it easily breaking, or the screen snapping off.
