MPT not recognising z6

i installed the mpt cd which came with the z6 but its not detecting the phone when i try to hook up but it has no problem detecting my e6.
any ideas?

Have you changed the connection type to Modem?

What version of mpt are you running? Mine shows up fine.

4.5.1g . i cant figure it my e6 connects no problem,z6 doesnt.

Right click the MPT icon and go to >Find Target> Skins> And see if the skin for the Z6 is there? If so then it MIGHT be a problem with your phone. If you do not have the skin post so and I'll upload mine as well as the config file for you to put in your skin directory to see if that works?

sorry im a bit slow here. do you mean if i connect the z6 to the cable and right click mpt icon i should see the z6 in the bottom right hand corner of the monitor as i do when the e6 is connected. no nothing when i try as you say.

Don't plug the phone in at all. Simply right sclick on the icon for MPT, scroll down and click "Find Target" the do what I said above and look for the Z6 skin and config file.

ok thanks for helping me out on this. the z6 skin is there but im not sure where i should be looking for the config. file, i cant see it.

It shoud be right next to the Z6 picture. Also try a different USB port of cable?

thanks, none of the phones pictures have a config.file next to them they all have "notepad". maybe im looking in the wrong place.
tried the different usb port and cable before but still not working,thanks anyway.

yes, i get the award for ****** of the month the problem was nothing more than that the usb was not fully pushed in to the phone only half way.(the phone charges with it in only half way and i thought it didnt go any further,so i never pushed it any further thinking i might damage the phone). it was only when i was called back by a motorola engineer just now going through with me trying to resolve the problem did we discover what the problem was. i pushed it in all the way and it connected first time. talk about being embarrassed.
credit for motorola customer service,they really were top notch.

the part of the usb that goes in the phone has to be pushed in all the way as far as it will go so that none of the silver part is showing. the phone charges when it is only half way in so i presumed it wasnt meant to go any further in but it has to be fully in when connecting to your pc.
