How do you transfer jpeg photos to VX8550?

After many years, I finally replaced my aged LG VX4400 with the new Chocolate VX8550. On my old phone, I was able to create unique ringtones and associate them with JPeg photos of my family members as wallpaper associated with their phone numbers when they called me or I called them. I recall using bitpim and some sizing program and a cable from Radio Shack, and followed detailed instructions on some message board. It worked great but I can't recall how I did it. Is there a way to do this for my new 8550? I was able to send ringtones to the new phone using phonezoo.com, but not sure how to do the wallpaper. I have the cable that came with the Verizon music essentials kit and assume I will use that. Is there a step by step tutorial? Thanks much for any help.

If you have a memory card for your phone, all you have to do is cut and paste the wanted photos into the "my pix" folder in the memory card. Then stick i back in the phone and voila!

Thanks, I do have a memory card. So I put it into a card reader and load the pix there? Does it matter what the resolution of the pictures are? I shoot with my digital camera at very high resolution. My pictures are larger than one MG in size typically. Do I have to reduce the size before transferring to the card?

That's a good question. I've downloaded some pretty high resolution photos off of the net for wallpaper, and haven't had any problems. You might just want to experiment with one or two photos and see how well they view on the phone.
And yes, just put your card into a card reader and cut and paste the pics you want. It's that simple.

It wasn't that simple, unfortunately. I put the micro card in the SD adapter and then inserted it in my card reader (which I use for SD cards from my digital camera without a problem), and it said the card needed to be formatted. This is strange since my micro card was formatted by my phone and I have been able to save pictures on it from the phone, so I know it is ok. Also, the picture file on it is called "My Pictures" , not "my pix". Did LG change something in this new Chocolate phone so I can't do the simple cut and paste?
I have been able to get some photos on the phone by emailing them to my phone number @vzwpix.com, but the size is too small (does not fill the screen) on some, so again I am confused about what resolution size I need for the photos to appear properly. Any help is appreciated.

I took some pictures with the 8550, and I was able to set them as a wallpaper, and they DID fill the screen. The resolution of the photo is 1280x960. However, when I simply just view the photo it does not fill the screen.
Also, the computer WILL ask you to format the card. Just ignore this. It's because Windows 2000 and up (like ME, or XP) use the NTFS file system whereas the old systems used FAT or FAT32. Because your memory card still relies on this older style of file system (don't ask me why because I think it's stupid) Windows will want to format it to bring it "up to speed" so to speak. Just ignore it and move on. As long as you formatted the card with your phone, you're fine.
Yes, the folder name was changed, but I had no problem dragging and dropping or cutting and pasting photos into my car and viewing them on my phone.
