New Sony Ericsson for AT&T

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: bOii wOnd3r x3

Does anyone know of the new S.E coming to AT&T? I heard thru my RSC that they're in the works of bringing the new w910 over. Is that true?

Posted by: darkninja

Wrong place to ask this will be moved to the at&t phone sub-forum.

But no the w910 will not come to at&t. It has the Euro 3g band on 2100. The next slider from SE that has the best possibility of coming to at&t would be the w580i.

those specific phones listed have NOT been released from AT&T. some of them have been released by the manufacturers (ie - Palm Arctic/Copper) though.

Posted by: myk03

The v190 and t290a are old? Those were old go-phones? And the iPhone has been out since the 29th? The pink v3xx is also available..

I'm confused?

Yes. The Pink V3xx has come out. It is being sold in my store right now as we speak. It is a very nice color I might add as well.

Posted by: darkninja

I'm surprised that the SE z750i was not on that listed. I'd thought for sure that at&t was going to carry this phone as it is quadband with triband SE. At&t could market that crap out of that phone with a saying of "3g around the world" or something to that effect.

Posted by: GearTripper

i was also hoping for the z750, but no word yet.

Posted by: Avironeur

I am sure he just copied the most recent release list which was probably from the beginning of July or June so it includes phones that have already been released since the original list was compiled and made available to reps. The newer list whenever that becomes available would not include already released phones.

Posted by: ivwshane

No k850?

That phone seems perfect for att!

read the list again... aside from the new PinkRAZR which was just released like two days ago i think and maybe the T290a, please link me where i can get those SE versions of the phones listed. the mod that replied didn't pay attention to the details to really know what he was talking about.

Anyone confirm that the W580i is coming to AT&T?

A couple of threads in the SE forum state that it will, just wondering if anyone else could confirm.

ummm, have you even read this thread?

Posted by: boiyung

do you know when the w580i will be coming out for AT&T

Posted by: GearTripper

end of third quarter or end of fourth quarter, this year. rumor was 3rd quarter which is later this month, but i didn't see any mention of it in the current release. i did see some other ones non-SE thrown in that i didn't see before (another pantech and some cheap motos), so maybe it got pushed back til G3 is more available.

Posted by: boiyung

so youre pretty sure its going to be some time this yr...also is it tru that the w580 doesnt have a light for the camera

Posted by: FidoFan

w580 is being released in the next few days for Rogers....yet another phone Rogers got quicker than AT&T :-)

Posted by: CyberMoto

ciny err AT&T may pick it up 6 months from now.

not getting anal at all "meat head" - just pointing out that your "updated info" has already been stated. thus, not really anything updated about it. and actually, there IS word on the w580... again, already posted.

what is otiva? and does it say when it's releasing?

How accurate has that been in the past?

Posted by: Bigbmc26

otiva is the internal ordering system that shows when expected shipments are due into AT&T's warehouse from the OEM. The skus are there for the k850 as well as the pink and grey z750, and the grey, white, and black w580. no open orders yet. the system is pretty accurate as long as the past field testing, which the usually do. may be christmas before we see them though.

p.s. the z310 is in there as well.

Posted by: phattbam

K850?? I hope that's not an error on the system. if the price is right I might migrate over

Posted by: thadoggfather

When oh when will W580i drop on AT&T.

Posted by: CyberMoto

Maybe before the new year. We all know how slow cingy,AT&T are at releasing new phones.

Posted by: thadoggfather

But Rogers is AT&T, and they pushed out the W580i so fast!

Posted by: CyberMoto

Rogers. From what I've seen. Does not waste time picking up new phones when they are released like cingy.

Posted by: CyberMoto

The only phone I've see AT&T jump on quick is the iphone. Big deal.

Posted by: fractured

I am not sure why but for some reason at&t has been very slow to release newer (or more high-end) Nokia and SE phones; though they'll almost methodologically release any POS Samsung, Moto, or LG device.

Posted by: boiyung

wait... if rogers is at&t why does rogers have phones at&t doenst...and where does rogers operate cuz ive never heard of them before this

Rogers is a GSM wireless provider in Canada

Correction: Rogers is THE ONLY GSM wireless provider in Canada. They bought out Fido, which was equivalent to T-Mobile a few years ago. Rogers bought oyt the outstanding stock that ATT owned of it, so it's not affiliated with ATT anymore.

Also, very nice to see ATT picking up the Z750 and K850, since they were both practically made for ATT.

Now that w580 finally has been released, when will we see k850? anyone has any specific info?

k850 is still not released yet. But if at&t follows the same pattern it did with the w580i then expect to see the k850 around december which is just a few months after its expected october release .

Posted by: FerneyZan

I think that the W580 was added to the aTT line up due to the Dobson/CellularOne buyout.. Apperantly that particular phone was doing so well that it made sense for ATT to release it on our network, also since becuase ATT was not currently offering any Slider phones, and they seem to have been getting a lot of demand for them..

Am not sure exactly when they started offering it, but my guess it was officially in their website within the last 24 hours..

Posted by: HelloRobo

AT&T has no sliders?

I just realized...you're right.

Wow.

Well, now they have the W580i.

So that's one slider, two candybar phones, and...countless flips.

Sweet.

Posted by: FerneyZan

It did not took me long to get this new slider at my home "SonyE W580i" and let me tell you, this baby is what I was expecting and a whole lot more.. This is by far overall the best phone we have had. I'm surprice I was able to get for so cheap from LetsTalk.com

How is the earpiece volume? Usually one of the plagues of SE is low volume and I'm curious as to how this sticks up to the w810i for example.

There is nothing wrong with the volume either ear pieace or speaker.. In fact when we play some of the sample mp3's, I already thought the volume was set on high as I was comparing it with my SYNC and MotoSLVR, to find out that it was slightly lower then half nad it was already sounding way better then my other phones whcih I would have to set very high to get the same noise.. I did bring the volume all the way up, and it was just loud.. The only I have not played yet with is the Bluetooth option, but I'm not expecting SonyE to drop the ball in that department..

Once again, the reception on this phone is just beyond my expectations.. I dont even any of the Nokias I had before been that good.. Nice!!!

Posted by: maverick22

I had the w580 & returned it because of low volume. If you're in a noisy environment, forget about hearing the person you're talking to. I'm not the only one who thought this. Someone else returned it for low volume also.

Everyone who thinks this phone is loud must have really good hearing.

Well, you are right about us having excellent hearing, but that makes it even better when you are comparison noises. There is a huge difference from my SamsungSYNC, MotoSLVR and LG CU500 which are Music Phones. tthe SYNC was just ok more on the low/weak side, but the LG500 and SLVRs are rather high on the volume, and the SE W580i makes them all eat its dust when it comes to Speaker Volume..

Every time I hear anyone complaining about speaker or battery, It just makes me wonder if maybe they got a defective handset or are they part of the population that complaints just because.. Maybe in ur case urs was defective, but so far the one we have, has proven a lot of others very wrong..

This phone is very feature heavy, and if anyone still has a problem with it due to battery, it will only make sense to turn off whatever features the person is not using to concerve energy, but with a battery to last 9hours on a call, I think that is more than impressive, but some people out there would still cry about that too..

By this, do you mean earpiece volume (incoming)?

Posted by: jediistar

Recent history of SE launches, both unlocked as well as carrier based phones have taught us that earpiece volume is something to be weary of.

On the flip side, there is NO question that IMO SE batteries set the standard for impressive battery life.

Right, incoming noise/voice sounds very clear. and that is only at half the volume as we currently have it set..

SE makes rock solid phones, my only gripe is they continue to make phones without 3G.

Makes no sense to me!?

Why does this surprise you. Actually from a biz sense they are making the right choice considering only 5% care or even use 3G data.
The vast majority want a good phone, with good RF, good battery,
SMS and maybe some MP3 capability.

Other than mobile geeks on these boards I know VERY few who want to shell out $20/month to browse on a tiny screen and then have the battery die out in less than a day.

Posted by: Wide_opeN

Trying to argue that 3G is a bad move is like trying to convince that we should use horse n buggies instead of cars again.

Sprint releases nothing but 3G, Verizon releases nothing but 3G, hence it should only make sense for AT&T to release nothing but 3G!

To beat a dead horse once again, I don't think that SE, Nokia, and Moto know how to release a CONSTANT stream of 3G phones. I think it is too much for their manufacturing group(s) to handle.

If not, then why can LG and Samsung release ALL 3G phones like they're going out of style?

Argue all you want, but NO ONE SHOULD BE MAKING 3G'LESS PHONES ANYMORE!!!!!!!!!!!

I wonder if the reason for it is due to the Court Bands on 3G phone Imports tot he USA due to Qualcomm and whatnot? I'm sure SE will start changing things around soon..

Its pretty simple actually. The reason SE doesn't make more US 3g phones is because that is not where the money is. They make more money on entry level phones in emerging markets, as well as mid-level phones they can ship out to all carriers (ie the quad-band w/edge phones) and plus SE has always focused its attention to the 900/1800/2100 markets.

Just until recently have we been seeing any love from SE with more quad-band phones and a few tri-band 3g phones, k850i and z750i .

Posted by: Wide_opeN

Seems to me SE has conceded to the Korean manufacturers here in the states!

Posted by: bikemanj7

does the phone fully charge on the usb cable? I left it on for a few hours and it still wasn't fully charged.

That is one thing we have not tried yet, but from the looks of it, we won't for another day or so, the battery is not drainning as fast as any of the phones we had before..

Posted by: altNz

SE and basically all the other manufacturers didn't concede to the Koreans, the Koreans were just more willing to do what the carriers wanted. You obey the carriers you get your handset marketed, you complain to much you end up like N75.

That's exactly what I mean, you'd think SE would be a little more willing to heed orders so as to increase their share with AT&T!
