HTC 6800 vs HTC s620 (aka Bell vs Rogers)

Ok..So this is a little complicated. I hate Bell. They have screwed me around for two years. My contract was up, I bought a GSM phone (s620) and planned on switching to Rogers. Problem is, Roger's plans are terrible, compared to what Bell is offering to keep me as a customer. Aside from a great rate, Bell is offering to give me a free HTC 6800 if I sign a three year contract. So my question is:

Is the HTC 6800 superior to the s620? Enough for me to go sell my s620?
I've looked at the specs, which don't really mean much to me. Help?

Thanks!

well i know nothing about rogers except for the complaints i see and i never hear anything good from bell but bell version is evdo, wm6, touchscreen, 2mp camera. smaller and theres tons more pocket pc apps than there are smartphone apps. i think both companies suck personally but i would say go bell (i never thought id see the day where i said that)

Oooh, so are you saying that the 6800 is a pocket pc? (I know the s620 is a smartphone)..

Yea, I really am a complete neophyte with this stuff...any help is appreciated!

Edit: Here's what each company says about their respective phones:

Well personally I really prefer Rogers to Bell especially since it's GSM. You should probably goto a Bell store and try one out especially if you're not familiar with PPC. The 6800 is more powerful. The S620 is smaller. I find smartphone is actually better phone oriented.

yes the 6800 is pocket pc. while gsm is fine and dandy if u wanna switch phones all the time to phones what is not available in canada go rogers but based on the fact u stated u dont know much about the features and stuff and all the techy terms i would say ur not the type to do any of the things people at gsm carriers like to do. ur phone will browse websites and download stuff faster when using bells network lets just simply put it that way. I would say go with telus but u didnt offer them as an option so i say go bell this instance (god i feel weird saying that again lol)

Perhaps I should state my plans with the phone.
I'd like it to replace my 3G ipod - so mp3, and video. So far I've not been terribly impressed with the video on my s620, but I haven't had time to download a proper converter (I'm using media player on my pc)

I don't think I'm going to purchase a data plan - I'm heavily/totally relying on the wifi capability - which so far with my s620 has been great.

These are my main uses - mp3, video, wifi (and clearly phone use, but I imagine they're similar)

well like jwy said 6800 is more powerful. and as i stated earlier theres tons more of apps for pocket pc devices (touchscreen phones). One thing i like ALOOOOOOOOOOTT I had a Moto q and now the p4000 (which is the same as the 6800) copy and paste is amazinggggggggg to have. On my q I would have to retype so many things and i hate it it was annoying. I know you may think thats a minor thing but there will be times u are wishing especially dealing with long text messages or emails or if ur on msn on ur phone where u wont want to retype anything. Ill stick to my guns go 6800 touchscreen phones can be annoying they definitely have their advantages over smartphones. that is strictly my opinion. I liked the Q when I had it but I love the p4000 except the audio volume is not loud speakerphone and ringtones and phone calls. If u are in a noisy environment u will have trouble hearing I am warning you of that from now.

But if u have someone that has agood phone and they speak loud on it u should be fine. In the end u could always just get th gsm version fo the 6800 which rogers offers its called the tytn.

i think the htc 6800 would be better for you because you do get a larger screen and web browsing is A LOT easier with a touchscreen.

for both smartphone and pocketpc i recommend tcpmp as a video player(it plays divx).

i had the htc s620 and moved onto the tytn and, to me, it was a night and day difference. the processor was faster, the screen was bigger and the keyboard is much more easier to type.

Gargh!!!!

Well, I think I may have just made the choice for myself..
Was in a huge rush yesterday, and put my s620 through the laundry..

So, unless I can perform some sort of miracle drying/unfrying process, it sure looks like I'm going for the 6800..

...so angry..

pls remember if u want the 6800 and u want to be with rogers the tytn is the same exact phone just the gsm version of it so u dont HAVE to go with bell

The tytyn is NOT the same phone as the P4000/6800. The 6800 is lighter and has WM6.

You can get WM 6 for the TyTN also, and not a cooked ROM but an offical ROM. But with the size your right.

Yo I don't think the 800mhz thing has anything to do with the 6800 and its overall speed.. I have noticed that even running the Power Control + OMAP the device is still very slow. my 66,67 and treo were much faster out of the box and mogul like once tweaked up a bit.. The thingz I most need to do with this handheld are: use mogul at a higher processor speed " I have used a treo 700wx overclocked at about 800mhz without over heating or other problems" For 600 Bhucks tha ability to use my gps chip.. and sum real impressive hacks or tweaks to make it a real working powerhouse.. yo check this out I have a roaming plan wit mah provider anybody think putting the device into roaming mode would fix dis slow az' internet speed? post back.
