Verizon SLVR L7c MP3 Ringtones

Alright, I've been able to send 30-second 192kbps CBR MP3s from my MiniSD card over to the phone itself, but I can't figure out how to set any of them as my ringtone. Playing them as a music file works just fine, but they do not show up under the tones menu.

Is it mandatory to get the USB cable and software in order to do this?

Same here, hoping to find a quick + dirty answer by searching, didn't come up with much though

You have to connect to bitpim or p2kcommander (with a cable) and delete mytone.db and tmptone.db files in the phone's filesystem for them to show up in the ringtones menu.

Oh dear, I've downloaded and tried both of those (I'm running Vista BTW), with no luck at all. Looks to be quite confusing for those new to this type of thing. A quick question, will the motorola phone tools allow me to use MP3's as ringtones? If so, it seems I may go that route. Nothing against the modding community, but it looks like one would have to invest a wealth of time on getting familiarized with all the programs and everything

But thank you for the reply NFAZE
