HTC Touch GRPS in Canada

Anybody in Canada has the GPRS working in HTC Touch?

I tried so many ways, but still don't work.

However, I could manage to get internet through EDGE (I guess), but that's not the same as GPRS, right? At least, I am trying to get Rogers' MyMail work, and they ask me to visit http://www.mymail.rogers.com/ota to download the software for the phone, but when I visited the page, it's the same as the one I got when visiting from my desktop, and there's no link for software download to my phone.

Please help!!!

EDGS and GPRS are the same, EDGE is a faster varient of GPRS.

I have my Touch work with gprs on Rogers. I just follow the step from the manual and the settings from the rogers FAQ sticky thread, then it just working perfectly. However, after I make MMS working then I lost the GPRS. It seems like GPRS & MMS can't co-=exist with PPC phone.

You don't see the mobile mymail page because rogers website does a check to see what device you are using, if your device is not in their database you get booted to the desktop version... and more importantly here MYMAIL does NOT work with Windows Mobile 6.
use a free exchange push like mail2web.com (my preference)
Emoze.com
or use the Built in Windows Live... all you need is a hotmail account and your device will do an exchange push with hotmail.

^^ So is there any different between using gmail or hotmail? I am currently hook up my touch to my gmail account.

So you have setup a regular POP3 check as opposed to an Exchange server push... then yes the difference is data. The push will consume less data usage then constant pop checking. However you can use a free mail2web and forward all your gmail and use the push feature.

Basically, you can't use MyMail with your TOUCH, because mymail is working with HP ipaq 6965 which must be Rogers' Phone. You can just setup the GPRS setting, when there detect the EDGE network, it will jump into that network, otherwise, GPRS will be insteaded.

Hey,

I was just wondering if you fixed your problem? I am experiencing the same thing and cant seem to get a connection other than through wifi.

I would appreciate any settings that have worked for others on the rogers network in Toronto.

Thanks

Make a new connection where the access point is 'internet.com'

Thats all, all other settings must be blank.

in the connections area of settings create a new gprs connection...
access point is: internet.com
username: wapuser1
password: wap

Wait a minute, I thought the HTC touch was a Tri Band phone without GSM 850? So how can it work on the Rogers network?

Posted by: jontymisra

It may lose signal in some areas, but it'll still work because it has 1900mhz band with it which is also used by rogers.

Did you take the time to read this info before throwing out HTC's propaganda?

^ Thank you very much, if anyone has taken the time too read then you will see that this is a quad band phone.

But why would HTC tell us it's a tri-band phone? Why not say quad-band they would get more sold units, doesn't make any sense.

Who cares why ... this phone kicks ***!!! So far, MUCH better sound quality and reception than my POS BB Pearl!!! The more people scared away by the advertised tri-band the less people have my phone!!!

the link to the other thread I posted has a suggestion as to why and for this reason they would feel their sales would not be affected just detoured temporarily.

No one can prove it but this phone is quadband. If you really want one, you'll have to buy it and try it yourself. But, EVERYONE that has tried one has agreed that it must be quadband based on reception, etc....
