Trouble putting DVD on my iphone. HELP!

I followed the instructions here ...

and waited 5 hours while the DVD was encoded and everything. I then brought the video into itunes where it does show and i can watch it, but when i try to sync it to the iphone, it says

"MrMrsSmith was not copied to the iPhone because it cannot be played on this iPhone"

is there a common misstep people make when transferring these DVD's, or what?

If anyone knows i would appreciate some help, it took 5 hours!!!!

Are you using a windows computer or a mac?
if you are using a mac, just download the program called handbrake. If im not mistaken its also available for pc as a beta.... And make sure that the rile format is in mp4

i got the Windows GUI handbrake...followed the instructions step by step and it went into itunes perfectly. its a gig in size and mpeg4 format.

but it just keeps giving me that error message

Oh man, hmmmm . Try going to apple and download a movie trailer for your iPod like ratatouille. Then put it in iTunes and test this out..... It should work because this is a given format for an iPod. If this doesn't work then I would assume that thereisaomething wrong with the phone??
