Is my Dash dead?

Well, my s620 got pretty wet, and didn't work for a few days. After I let it apparently dry out, a red light would appear at the top of the phone when plugged in. A few days later, whenever I plugged the phone in or put the battery in, it would constantly vibrate (ie like it was stuck in vibrate mode).

Anyone ever heard of this before? I read a bunch of stories where people's phones had gone through the wash like mine and survived, but its not looking too good, as its been almost 5 days and all it does now is vibrate..

We are all in mourning for your lost, and afraid to break the news to you.

thats exactly what you heard... stories, no way a phone can go through a "wash" and survive. maybe a little sprinkle or surface splash but if it dipped into water then its gone. when electronics get wet they fail. dont hope and pray cause its not going to work anymore. sorry for your loss man, it sucks...

find a replacement on ebay!

orlee

PM me if you want to sell it.

That can be true, but is definitely not a blanket statement. My DASH went through the wash cycle, rinse, spin, and came out bricked. Turned off, wouldn't power on, etc. I dismantled it and shook out the water and put it in a tupperware container filled with silica gel (buy it at a craft store for drying flowers). Two full days in the silica soaked up all the little bitty moisture inside and it came out and powered right up, albeit with a low battery. And it was turned ON when it went into the wash, by the way. That's how I knew where it was - when I called it, it went to voicemail and I just KNEW it was in the washer and had shut off.

Ive fixed many water damaged phones, but it doesnt work on all phones..
If you left the battery in and tried to put it ont he charger while there is still water inside there is a good chance you have fried something beyone repair..

What you need to do is remove all power sources, get a toolkit with the tools to tear the phone down(Usually a T6 torx and a small phillips will work on almost any phone), Contact cleaner (Sold at Radioshack for 10$) and a soft bristle toothbrush..

Basically, take phone completely apart.. Spray contact cleaner on toothbrush, scrub the entire board and all connections.. Anywhere corrosion can happen.. Let it dry for about an hour, reassemble and there is about a 50/50 chance itll work again..
