Does anyone have the Softbank x101HT? SNTraders are selling it over the Tytn for less money and they say it's the same, except it has wm6.

Softbank phone

well they are both essentially the same phones, the one thing that is differnt is the rom and of course the housing... the only reaosn why the softbank is cheaper is because its a carrier sponcered phone... just like if you would to guy a 8525 and a tytn it would be differnt as well

people argue the softbank is better quality build.

It's kind of ugly and no qwerty.

You'll probably want to keep in mind why it is being sold at a cheaper price. If you buy a Softbank-branded device, regardless of it being just a re-branded TyTN - HTC will not support the device (I have verified with them personally). This means that if anything goes wrong and you need to ship it in for repairs, you must deal with Softbank yourself. This goes for other devices such as Dopod, O2, etc. as well. Keep in mind that on their website, SN Traders states a warranty coverage of 15 days and you're on your own afterwards (ridiculously-short if you ask me), so you're basically on your own and you risk ending up with a $500 brick.

IMO, for people living in Canada the safest is probably to buy HTC-branded devices and probably Cingular/AT&T and T-Mobile-branded devices given our close proximity with the US.

Thank you. Sound advice. SNTraders is where I was looking to purchase it too.

Or you can get the TyTN from Rogers.

I'm a fido lifer, so I'd have to pay full for it...sn has it for $619 I believe.

If you pick it up in store you save $50, so it's $569, which is pretty good IMO.

That beats the Softbank X01HT for sure then. On SN, X01HT retails for $599 whereas with the $50 discount, you get an HTC-branded TyTN for $569 - very good.

They were saying the softbank has wm6 on it, where the htc is wm5.

I think that's no longer relevant. There are many unofficial WM6 upgrades released for the TyTN already and HTC has released the official WM6 upgrade to the TyTN just recently. Just grab the WM6 update from HTC's site and reflash.
