I was outside on Safari with by iPhone when the "This accessory is not made for iPhone" warning popped up, but I didn't even have any accessories plugged in! Then it happened five minutes later. Creepy, huh?

Probably a bluetooth device was trying to pair with iPhone, since the bluetooth stays discoverable when turned on.

I wasn't near a Bluetooth device.. Sorry, I forgot to say that.

How do you know? Someone could have been looking for phones in range and tried to connect to you.

The same thing happened to me in the mourning. It was raining out and i had my phone in my shirt pocket. When i walked inside a drop or two fell on the cable connector end of my phone. I thought i shorted it out thinking it had a device. I also thought i saw a file update when i synced for my podcast(something other then the podcast)?????

Had the same problem when I applied my BSE to the back of the phone.

Water got in the pin connector on the bottom, next few hours that message kept popping up for me!

Eventually it all dried out that night, and haven't seen it since.

Not true. It's only discoverable while on the bluetooth settings page.
I just did some tests while pairing it with my laptop.

Probably something funky happened to your 30 pin connector. I have a 4g iPod that is forever telling me I can't load pictures because I have no card inserted, but I don't even have a card reader hooked up. Nothing I have done seems to be able to fix it either, including changing the firmware.

I thought iPhone didn't have the OBEX Bluetooth profile to connect to other phones/computers?

And it was a dry day.. It is good to see that I'm not the only one that has had this occur.
