Aliant and the HTC 6800

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hello everyone,
I was wondering if anyone had heard any rumours as to when the HTC 6800 will be released by Aliant (Atlantic baby-Bell).

No one at Aliant that I've spoken to has any clue, but my Audiovox 6600 is showing it's age, and I'm itching to upgrade ASAP.

Going out to dealers now supposedly....

Damn, would have been nice to get this last week so I could have it for my vacation. If I'm forced to read my emails and login to my server, it would be better on EVDO for sure

I was in talking to a dealer on friday and she said it should be soon now. They had recived a demo unit and were just waiting for the OK from Aliant to start selling it. So soon hopefully.

What's the EV DO coverage like out East? I'll be driving around NB this week, mostly in the Saint John area, just wondering what to expect.

Thanks.

I can only go by the information that I found on Aliants site as I'm just a customer and currently don't have an EVDO phone. But it looks like most major city's in the maritimes has access to EVDO based on the coverage map at http://productsandservice.aliant.ne...overage_ENG.PDF . So Saint John should be covered ok. I cannot confirm this as I have never used it myself.

Hope this helps! Enjoy your trip!

Still no 6800 from Aliant. And to think NB used to have one of the most advanced Telecoms in the world...

They are supposed to be available at the dealers for a while now....maybe your local dealer just doesn't have them in stock?

The 6800 just showed up on Aliant's site.

The pricing as of right now looks to either be a good deal, or just fat fingered

$199.99 3 year contract
$249.99 2 year contract
$329.99 1 year contract
$369.99 monthly contract

I am going to go bug them at the store at lunch, hopefully they have one there.

It's not in Fton as of Friday afternoon. I wouldn't get more than a one-year contract as I suspect that data plans are about to get more reasonable in a hurry when Rogers releases the iPhone in a few weeks.

Picked one up today at Wackys on a month to month contract for the 369.99 after a $50 mail in rebate. Good deal it seems.

What kind of data plan were you sucked into?

And if you're a regular at Meis restaurant on Regent Street, Charlotte, the owner will give you the password for her network.
