I just purchased a P4000 and am very satisfied, well maybe just satisfied. I have been sinc-ing with Outlook and all my contacts wouldn't transfer. It appeared that anything with a 1 prepended in my contact list would not be recognized by the phone as a number. I went through all my contacts and took the 1 out. Voila...they all transferred. Now when I try to dial anyone long distance (the majority of my contacts) I get the "need to dial 1 before the area code". Telus said 'too bad so sad'...they can't help. Please tell me there is a solution. Now I have to get a pen and paper out, write the number down (bad short term memory) from the contact list, then go to phone and dial manually ...or do I...any ideas?

Trial and error. It appears to be syntax in my contact list. By opening the contact in Outlook and double clicking on the phone number, it brings up a detail box. Hitting OK prepends the contact number with a '+1 '. When it syncs up the phone software recognizes the syntax and prepends the contact accordingly.
Lesson learned...just typing 1 in the number is not good enough.
