Is this phone unlockable? I'm getting it off someone who wants to use another phone with his rogers plan. I don't want to fork out more than 20$ for it.

^ Then how can you be sure? Dejan Kaljevic's original and the only free solution didn't mention RAPGSM v1.1 powered models like 5300. For the 3rd party boxes like JAF, it's not just software but hardware required. Yet, no reputable one has laid claim to have 5300 unlocked.

Aiyaa. I guess I'll threaten rogers to unlock it or I'll disconnect my cable TV service. Worked for my last phone lol.

^ I think Uncle Ted may call you bluffing this time Honestly, as a business owner, I don't share your sense humor. As I see it: You pay less for a Rogers' Nokia 5300 up front, in return you've gotta stick w/ Rogers. If you think locking it up isn't nice, there're unlock, unbranded version.

What I wish to see all providers here in US and Canada: Unconditionally, at no charge, to release the lock code once the contract commitment has been fulfilled.

Well its someone else's phone. I use fido for GSM service. The dude I'm getting it off of is switching to a blackberry so technically I own the phone and robbers should unlock it for me. Also, good to know another Jackie Chan adventures watcher

^ Sorry, I mean "Uncle Ted" Rogers. Anyway, a robber tries to rob another robber?
