Desktop Redirector Questions

I have a spare PC at work that is basically just my Outlook machine (I use a Macbook Pro and RDC in).

I was thinking about getting a Curve to try out BB for the first time and had a few Qs about the Desktop Redirector.

Does it matter that the PC is behind a Nortel/Cisco VPN?

If I receive an email through Desktop Redirector and I reply to it, will it look like it came from the email address the original sender sent to?

I'd strongly recommend against using Redirector or Mail Connector as neither of them are very reliable. The VPN shouldn't matter and replies will appear to come from the address that the original sender sent to.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry7250/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/109)

^^ Agreed.

Unfortunately that seems to be the only way right now as I didn't squeeze in the budget for BES or BIS. How unreliable is Redirector? Does it crash Outlook often or?

Redirector is only certified to work with a Microsoft Exchange mailbox. If you do not have Exchange, it is not recommended. You must have a BlackBerry Data Plan in ordre to use the Redirector.
