Just bought a Pearl - if I put it in standby mode I should receive texts, emails, calls, and alarms still correct? How would I answer an inbound call this way?

Yes, standby will allow you to receive all your messages and calls. A call will just show up on the screen even if in standby mode, that would've been an easy one to check.

I don't mean to flame, but couldn't you have just put the phone in standby and then call/message yourself from the computer/other phone? Would've been faster than this.

I tried it and it didn't work. I pressed every button and could not get it to answer.

The screen will activate and show you an incoming call, the caller ID and an option to answer or ignore. If yours is not then you may not be in standby mode. Are you using the mute button on the top of the phone?

I am using the mute button on the top of the phone. Probably 1/3 incoming calls I can answer... the rest I just press the answer button and nothing happens (screen stays frozen) then the call is missed and it unfreezes and I have a missed call.

Try updating the software on it, or maybe hardreseting it...I use the standby all the time and have no problems with answering phone calls
