i've seen some awesome pics taken by the tytn on flickr. however, the quality of my tytn does not compare to my old SE w810i.
are there any tweaks or settings to improve the camera quality?

I have not seen registry tweaks to improve things. I can get great pictures with the brightness setting raised to max. However that change will not stick after a soft reset so you have to re-do it every so often. I use superfine at 2 meg and in good light this works well providing you try to point the camera at a duller area of the scene you are taking. Curiously this often means holding the camera high and pinting slightly downward to take the pic.

Some folks feel that the coolcamera software from Ateksoft works better on the 8525 Tytn than the inbuilt software.

Don't bother trying to get good night/semi dark pictures on the Tytn, it's settings making it very much a bright day sort of camera.

Macro is good - but again you need a good light source and angle to avoid glare. Macro and any zoomed shots need a very steady hand. Better to use the central d-pad key to take the picture. Press and hold it in until picture is taken, rather than press and release as this caused wobble. Be very precise with the macro distance from memory it's almost exactly 3 inches with very little leeway for a sharp pic.
