I have an HTC Touch which works great with my existing sim card on T-Mobile. When I was in Germany last week I bought, also from T-Mobile, an HTC 3300/Artemis. When I put my sim card into the 3300 I am getting a message that the sim card has to be unlocked. I don't understand that as the card works without any problems in the Touch and all HTC phones are supposed to be unlocked. I never used any sim lock on any of my phones. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Ask the person you bought it from to unlock it for you.

I bought it brand new from T-Mobile in Frankfurt. However, it could have been a returned item. I have done many hard resets, but the moment I switch it on with a sim card in it (I tried 2 different ones) it comes back saying that it needs a sim unlock code. I don't get it, I thought a hard reset sets everything back to company settings incl. any passwords, but this is not the case. I have been trying to find the original OS but it is not on the disks that came with the device. I am calling T-Mobile Germany in an hour to see where I can download the OS from. What a pain.

You bought the phone from TMobile store?

Then it is locked to TMobile. They don't sell unlocked phones.

Just call them and ask fo the unlock code....you must be a subscriber for more than 90 days though.
