Mad that modders have to try to fix what Apple won't?

Maybe it's just me, but it really makes me mad that I see well intentioned modders and iphone owners having to struggle and risk damaging their phones to fix things like too low volume or no ringtones or whatever, when it seems like, notwithstanding the security patch, Apple is a no show on these things and they could obviously fix allot of these things in a few tech minutes and in fact don't even really comment on any of these concerns. If these modders come up with a real volume fix before Apple does, then I will be very happy on one hand and extremely disappointed on the other. I hope that if this is the case, the press gets a hold of this part of the story and embarrasses the hell out of Apple.

In any case I want these fixes as soon as Apple figures them out, one by one if necessary and not some lump of fixes some months from now.

What I'm afraid of is the speaker volume issue is hardware related. I know some people don't think so since music is louder but that doesn't mean the phone can necessarily be made louder. If Apple doesn't fix it in the big Leopard-related release than I would wager than it can't be fixed.

right but if apple releases a "fix" that in fact makes more trouble than good, the press would really embarrass them (not only that, but worse, their stock would prolly get a hit depending on the kind of ****up), whereas if hackers/modders pop out a mod a day that may work/may not work/may cause other problems, it really isnt a biggy as its mostly techy ppl applying these mods, and ppl who know the risk...

moral of the story, apple wont, and cant just whip up patches like you expect, it is the nature of software m8, it just isnt that easy and apple isnt going to put their financial well being at stake just so an update comes some days early...

I agree with the people that think maybe the volume issue was a hardware issue. Some phones are affected some are not, so maybe it was a certain batch that had a bad piece of some kind in them? Kind of like the screen issue people are talking about. My phone is loud as can be and so is my roommates.

Apple are working on them. Quit expecting them to finish it by your deadline.
