Unlock Boost i855 for Nextel

I am getting a great deal on a i855 this week. I have read a series of conflicting posts on this board and others regarding unlocking of the phone (most were older posts).
Since I am a Nextel Sub can I visit a Nextel Store and will they unlock the phone free of charge?
Basically picking up the phone for a backup..
