Has anyone gotten a refurb 8525 from the regular site in the past week or so since they reappeared? I'm wondering if they are ATT branded units now, or still Cingular. I fear ending up with a Cingular branded unit, which at this point has probably been through the return process more than once.
Also, what is the bottom line on warranty for refurbished units? I keep reading posts that mention a 1 year warranty now on the refurbs, yet the website clearly states 90 days. Anyone have any insight?

I got the refurb from ATT a while back and now I get random white screens and the bottom buttons on the front do not work or randomly work

I am on my second refurb and the second one is a at&t branded unit.
It came with updated software which is much better than cingular branded version.
From what I have been told when I did my XBM (Exchange by Mail) they said its one year from my original purchase date and not from the newer one I just got. I was also told that if you get a exchange just before the 1 year is up then the refurb you get will be extended for I believe 90 days. I forgot what exactly he said but It might of been 30 days.
My cingular branded one had the problem if the front send/end keys not working on occasion and my newer at&t branded one did it once since getting it 2 weeks ago.

Hey Popcorn - what version of Windoze Mobile is on your 2nd refurb unit? I'm having the white screen issue on my 8525 (first batch sold last Nov.) and need to call for an XBM. I need to know whether I need to backup my data to change operating system for WM6, or if new one will still be WM5.
Thx

I got a refurb 8125 once and it was, as far as I can tell, no different from new.
In many cases refurbish were just returned as part of a buyer's remorse and there was nothing actually wrong with it. But there is always the chance a person had a defective one and it go recycled to refurbish because the problem wasn't identified. But in the latter case it's no different than buying a new defective one.
My advice is that if you get one, make sure to exchange it asap if you think there's something wrong with it. Otherwise you won't know the difference between it and a new one.

I called the XBM earlier today. And after that, I have been getting the white screen of death, like 95% of the time. I guess it was either perfect timing or my current one found out and is jealous
Oh well...I should get my new phone tmw
