PALM, Inc as an investment?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I couldn't really tell which forum to put this into, but just wanted to get some opinions on what you think about Palm as an investment. I wanted to dump some money into RIMM about a year ago, and of course as usual I get so see how good of a decision that was. What is your opinion of Palm and their future income prospects?

I would think this would belong in either General Questions or the General section.

Oops. Sorry, I had two windows open, and I posted this in the wrong one. I was trying to decide between the general and mobile technologies. Any mods see this please move if you wouldn't mind.

It's a bit hard to say what Palm's future is like. They have the Foleo coming which I don't see as a big hit. Their next Treo 800 is a bit iffy at this point on how well it will do. I think they really need to expand their product portfolio or at least make some more consumer friendly devices like RIM did with the Pearl and Curve.

You might want to see some truth in this open letter from Engadget to Palm... before you make a big mistake.

I agree juice. That device would change the world. My world at least. Ive been begging the gods above. I assume the profile is more streamlined. And of course gps via HSDPA and wifi right?

I don't know anything about an Engadget article, but just knowing where Palm has been (UP) and where they're going (DOWN), it seems like one of the silliest companies to invest in.

Crazy can be good, but silly is just bad.

Not really - that thing on the right is HORRIBLE. I'd gladly continue using my little square screen before I'd haul that P.O.S. around with me. Good thing is isn't real.

PALM is a horrible investment. Frankly, the fact that you had to ask in an open forum worries me about your stock-picking abilities. PALM has been a dumper for a long time.. (Reverse stock split? Hello?) So I wouldn't want anyone to lose their shirt on this stock.

If you are new to investing (don't know your background) you might try ETFs or REITs for a start.

********

BTW: that picture is INCREDIBLE--- wish it were the new Treo!
