Device PIN Unlock BUG!!!

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I have a problem, I'm hoping someone here has dealt with this before. I set my T-Mobile Wing to lock with a password after 5 mins of no activity, when I set my password I used numbers and letters. HOWEVER I left the password type box in SIMPLE PIN - instead of COMPLEX ALPHANUMERIC - well, the keypad to unlock my phone is only a number pad with no possible way to enter letters, even with the keyboard open! Now I can't get back into my phone...

I have tried plugging it into many PC's to try to backup the data, but I get a dialog box that says:
"Your device is currently locked. To connect to or synchronize with this PC, please authenticate on your device."

2 of the PC's that I tried to plug this into are previously synced PC's... I am hesitant to call T-Mobile because I'm afraid they will tell me to do some sequence for a reset, however, there is a TON of info I need to get off there before that happens...

I'm also going to post this in the T-Mobile forums...

ANYONE have any ideas???

A google search returns businesses trying to carrier un-lock my phone, and the forums are mostly the same results...

PLEASE HELP ME!!!!

hate to be the bearer of bad news....
but i work for t-mobile and i had a customer that did the same thing, and we had to do an exchange for him. i am not sure if there is a current fix for that problem. i would call customer care at tmobile and ask for the advanced data department and see. This situation with the gentleman at the store happened the second day the phone came out so we just swapped it out for him and he didn't have any pertinent information.
good luck.

What? You exchanged a phone when a simple Hard Reset would have fixed the issue? Either way with Hard Rest or phone exchange your not going to get your data back.

Have you tried just entering the numbers you used? So for example if you used 1w2d45y try just entering 1245.
