Mogul Screen Problems

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

i have the mogul, and my screen seems to be all grainy, im not sure how to explain it well, but it is like the colors dont line up where they are supposed to and everything looks grainy (kind of like if you were not using very many colors).

this had happened before and a soft or hard reset would fix it (im not sure which i did). this time it wont go away. im pretty sure it is a software problem because the sprint screen that shows when booting looks normal, but this screen is only yellow and black, maybe it would look normal with it messed up.

this has happened both before and after i did the rom upgrade, but only now (after upgrade) will it not go away.

I tried taking a screen shot and emailing it to myself, but the screen shot looks normal.

any help is appreciated.

I think HTC cheaped out on the LCD's in these units. Mine has one single horizontal row with at least four dead/stuck/slow pixels. The screen changes from a slightly blue hue to a slightly pink hue when tapped, too. I already have an ESRP replacement in the works. We'll see if the new one is any better.

Mine does the pink thing too but if you notice if you hold down the stylus, the pink will flash. I'm thinking its just design that way so you know when its hit or something similar. I don't see it as a problem.

well, i just had mine replaced, at sprint, they said it looked like a hardware issue, but im not completely sure he would have known better if it were software.

I got my ESRP replacement and no longer have the dead pixels issue. This LCD is perfect, but still discolors on screen taps.

Interestingly, my replacement 6800 does not have the words "Pocket PC" printed below the display. My original did, as do my co-workers' units and all the store-stock units in my store. The pictures on the box, however, don't show "Pocket PC" below the display.

Are your white backlights at the top (behind the mail and Internet Explorer buttons) considerably brighter than the white backlights behind your bottom keys (Windows icon, "OK" key, two softkeys)? Seems like the brightness was much more consistent on my first 6800.

To its credit, my replacement 6800's keypad appears to be put together a little better than the original one. The first 6800's keypad was, for lack of a better word, buckling in a few places. It certainly wasn't flat. This one looks much better.

Hello, quality control? Anyone home?

Mine does not say Pocket PC either. The white lights appear to be bright, but I do believe it is just because they are white. The light kinda bleeds out the sides of the call/hangup buttons so I think that is there the light is centered at the bottom, so the windows key etc are not as bright.
