Sprint Mogul - How to silence?

I searched through here and the user guide for the answer to this question, so I figure I'm blind or stupid or a combination of the two.

How do I make it so the phone is silent when any type of alert starts like a phone call, text, e-mail...etc?? I don't WANT it to vibrate either. I need perfect silence.

The only thing I could think of doing is turning off the radio to the phone but then I wont know if I miss a call unless a voicemail is left.

Surely there is a way...

all you have to do is click on the speaker on the today screen and tap off

yeah, click the speaker and go to "off"
