HF Why is my new 8258 showing double/Triple Contacts ?

Just got a new AT&T 8258 and i copied the sim contacts to the phone so i could add pictures to em and ring tone but now when i go t "contacts" I see doubles f every name i have been fiddling with the phone for bout an hour now and i am quite frustrated . What can i do to fix this problem ?

Are they the same contacts with different numbers? For example, one for home and one for cell?

Do you mean "8525?"

Contacts on the SIM card has one phone number for each name so multiple phone numbers for the same person would show multiple instances of that name. When you copy those contacts to the phone memory, you double the entries. You have to delete the entries on the SIM card and combine the multiple contacts with one name into a single entry with that name. To avoid having to delete entries from a SIM card, it is better to use either a retired SIM card or an unactivated one to make the copies. You can then save that SIM card as a backup. You can only use it in phones from the same carrier as the SIM card or unlocked phones in the future to transfer contacts.
