anyone using vista..and has had LUCK syncing photos.HELP

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hey everyone!

i talked to apple support and they were not much of any help. I started a thread last night but it was not helpful at al either.

I need someone with an iphone running vista .. I need to know how you went about syncing your photos onto your iphone. I tried syncing 37 last night, and out of the 37 only 2 went on there, and the two that did were distorted and the color was all messed up.

I want to know if anyone running vista has had any luck when syncing their photos, because it is really is starting to bother me that I can't get it to work properly.

Anyone with any kind of help asap would be greatly apreciated.

Thanks so much.

The Tech person at Apple iPhone support that I spoke with gave me this work around...
Put all the photos you want (in folders or what have you) onto a USB key ( you know the little thumb drives). Point iTunes to the folder and they should all sync over. So far it works for me very well though I would still like iTunes and Vista to play better together.

Hope this works for you.

It is a Vista thing...waht else did you expect? I am THIS close to going to a Mac! In fact just a couple more items to check out on the Mac and I'm jumping off the Windows boat!

Just FYI, I know its spending a bit more money just to get the photos to work but really, you can get these USB thumb drives for next to nothing nowadays. I have a 512MB one I picked up at Office Depot I believe for like 10 bucks. But I agree wholeheartedly that we should not be expected to have to do this just to get something that should work to work. Just my 2cents

I am running Vista and I have no problem syncing photos. I however do make sure they are cropped to the right size to save time when itunes is optimizing.

I am running Vista Ultimate with no problems at all.

Do you have to do anything special to the photos to get them to sync over to the iPhone??

Never had any problems syncing photos from Vista to the iPhone myself. Trying to delete them from the iPhone so I could safely show it to someone was another story.

I wanna know..how yall were able to do it using Vista with no problems?? just for the near future..

but I was able to get my picutres onto my phone .. i just went ahead and put all my pics on my other laptop that has Windows XP and it worked perfectly!

Thanks for all of the imput!...I would still like to know though if there is anything special yall had to do (the ones using Vista) that had no problems!!!

You need to do these two things to sync your pictures between your Vista computer and your iPhone.

1. You need to have your pictures on your PC in the specific folders that you want. If your pictures are scattered all over create a new folder under "My Pictures" or whatever default picture folder you have and copy/move the pictures over there.

2. In iTune, go to the iPhone picture setting page and make sure the folders containing your picture is checked. If the folder does not appear, you need to add it to the setting.

That is all and it works for me!

i was having the same issues as you guys until you mentioned the usb key. I just put the folder of pictures that i wanted on my usb hard drive and they all ransfered over flawlessly. hope this helps as another way to solve the problem

This is EXACTALY what I did. I went to "My Pictures" and created a folder called "iPhone Pictures". I then went through ALL of my photos copied the ones I really wanted, and then pasted them into the "iPhone Pictures" folder. I went to sync it with my phone and the "iPhone Pictures" was checked and none of the other folders were. After I synced it, It said that the pictures synced will not be able to display correctly on the iPhone. So I dont know what is going on, and why its working for some but not others....

but like i said above, I went ahead and went on my other laptop which is running Windows XP and it worked perfectly for me..

I do have one quick question though for everyone..
when yall sync yalls photos and you go to the photos icon to look at the pictures and you click on one ..does the picture take up the whole screen when looking at the phone straight up and down? or does it take up the middle of the screen? ....thats what mine does, but if i turn the phone on its side it takes up the whole screen...also when i zoom in with the pinching method as i make it bigger the picture continues to stay very clear which is really good!!!

Just glad I figured out some way to get my pictures on there!

i had massive problems before with the BSODs due to my toshiba laptop having RAID... anyways, after i found an unreleased MS patch, it works alright (with the occasional not seeing the iphone until reboot, etc)...

I'ma outta windows world ASAP... I'm waiting for leopard, see if they release any other stuff (laptops) and then gonna sell my toshiba or give it to someone at work, and never look back to windows...

(I'll install vmware fusion on the mac though)

Where did you get this patch? I have RAID on my Sony laptop and had the same problem (it said it was an error writing to the hard drive). I actually thought it corrupted the whole machine, but was able to find a fix. Still can't sync the photos though!
