I just got a Tmobile Dash with no book so still trying to figure things out. anyway, mine came with Yahoo/ICQ/AIM on it which all sign on fine. Does this use my TXT messaging with each message I send or is it some other way?
I thought it was using the Wifi but turned it off yet my phone was still connected to the IM programs.
If it is using the TXT messaging, is there anyway around it from using that and just using the net? What about with Agile Mobile? (no, not using a full internet 30.00 a month thing, only Tzones/TmobileWeb)

well you would need a internet connection for phones programs to work. either edge or wifi will do... the dash can use the t mobile web plan if you wont wanna pay for the 30 a month plan

I thought it was using my Wifi which im ok with but when i turned the wifi off on my phone, Yahoo stayed connected. I didnt see any settings in IM about which connection to use. Is it using Wifi if its avaliable and if not, it switches to the tzones?
also, im not sure if every message i send and receive is counting as a text message like it does when im using the highly horrible mobile web version of yahoo IM

If you're using OZ Messenger for AIM and Yahoo, it uses GPRS/EDGE to download and manage buddy lists/send messages, but each IM sent and received counts as a text message. It works whether you have an internet plan or not. I don't have an internet plan, but I have unlimited messaging, so that's the only reason why I use it. Other programs you can install require a sufficient internet plan (people are having problems with the $5.99 one) or Wi-Fi.

thats exactly what i wanted to know, dont like that answer what so ever but still :-). I have the 300 text messages but dont see anything with tmobile for more or unlimited on the site. May have to call them i guess :-(

Unlimited is $15 a month...$10 if you have a MyFaves plan.

Other messengers don't work on the 5.99 plan becuse the ports they need aren't available. Some people say they've gotten aim to work in agile by changing the port it uses to connect.

does anyone know what those ports might be?
I have been using Agile for several years with the tzones plan and every once in a while, it would just stop working because i guess Tmobile changed some settings or whatever. After another upgrade from Agile, it would be working again. Im hoping that will be the fix again this time, it just seems like its more widespread this time than before :-(
