Our RAE told us to take down everything that says "FEWEST DROPPED CALLS"

We got word today at 11:00 am to remove all signage that claims "Fewest Dropped Calls" As at&t can no longer claim this. Anyone else get this?

Posted by: offensive

Got the call at 12PM CST.

Thankfully we only had 2 signs in our store that said it. lol.

Posted by: CA

Well... Is it the V word?

If it is I got a new one, "I'd rather drop than switch!"

Posted by: shorty28

my manager just told us to do the same.

Posted by: indiana-moto

Found out just now, it is officially The Big V now has rights to fewest dropped calls

Posted by: Wonwad

Thank god, im tired of hearing "You guys got the fewest dropped calls, it's not true, I get dropped calls all the time".

its common for all wireless companies to have dropped calls. there's no perfect service even for the best. as long as data services are on point then i have no complaints.

We had to take the two signs down that said it.

I guess there goes the commercials that say it too.

Tell that to my customers.

Posted by: CA

I know...but I haven't had any dropped calls in over a year, just no bars or choppy calls. And thats with both ATT and Sprint. Go figure...and by the way where is telephonics(or whatever{independent research for hire BS}) now, Hmm?

Posted by: Flyinace2000

My local radioshack had to do the same.

Posted by: holaDude

I wonder why? I hope this stops people from making some stupid comments about it and then start complaining.

Posted by: kbright1892

I got a voicemail from a buddy of mine earlier today about this. I was off today, so I didn't get the memo. I am actually glad to see it go though, maybe now customers can get off of my back about our "slogan."

I work for an agent and just got the call saying an email went out yesterday telling everyone to take down anything with "Fewest Dropped Calls" on it. We still had our signs up when we opened today, but now they are all taken down. Oh well.

It's a marketing change. Because everyone is advertising that they have the fewest dropped calls (except Verizon which uses the vague, but effective term "most reliable") it has diluted our marketing. So we're now going to advertise the fact that we have the largest voice & data network.

It's going from fewest dropped calls to more bars in more places. All those AT&T signs we put up less than 2 months ago go out in the trash like the mixed AT&T/Cingular stuff put a few months earlier. Marking campaigns, like the seasons and AT&T's waste and bloat, come and go.

Posted by: suthurnlatino

It was never good marketing to begin with . Sprint claims the "Most Powerful Network" too.

Does at&t really have a larger voice/data network than its rivals? AT&T includes domestic roaming in all its coverage ads as does Verizon and Sprint.

Verizon and Sprint both have voice networks that cover over 295 million POPS here in the US. Verizon has 1xRTT roaming agreements now with Alltel and Sprint while Alltel & Sprint also have EVDO data roaming agreements in place.

I think at&t is trying to float this old marketing ploy on some small technicality and seeing if it'll fly. The technicality may be strictly "native," but they don't differentiate this technicality on their website in a clear fashion.

Maybe someone could come up with a valid (up to date) comparison of POPS coverage for voice and data coverage between the top 4 carriers here in the US and DIFFERENTIATE between native and roaming?

I'd certainly be interested in seeing such a comparison.

I was in all the stores in my territory here in the Metro Richmond, VA area and they all still had the signs up. The RSMs never said anything to me about the signs needing to come down. By the looks of it, it's not market specific, so I'm not 100% sure why they weren't taken down.

There's two ways this has been spun to me.

1) The largest native coverage. Debatable, but I think it's true.
2) The largest voice AND data network, as in the largest network that supports voice and data simultaniously. Since we're the only UMTS service provider, that's a given.

I guess you can respect T-Mobile in this case. Since they can't make a largest network claim, the work with everything else. Wonder if its getting them anywhere...

It's a little known truth that it's possible for a customer to be cancelled by ATT if they spend too much airtime roaming off-network. I'm not sure if VZW or Sprint have similar policies. If they do have similar policies, then having the largest "native" network is definitely something to consider.
