Should I get V3xx?

Mostly just make calls and text. I'm a big SE fan. I've had W810i and K790a. currently using T637 as a backup until I decide on a phone.

A while back I had V3xx for a day, and I returned it because I wanted W810i again. But now, I dunno. What do you think? I probably won't use it for data.

I'm a W810a fan that went to the V3xx for the 3G tethering.

To be honest, I miss the SE UI and everything else that came with the W810, the only thing that's keeping me with the V3xx is the 3G data.

The moto UI is horribly outdated even though they have freshened it up for a bit quicker response but still crappy.

The camera is crappy, so is the phone log and everything else.

Wirelessly posted (Walkguru's: MOT-RAZRV3xx/96.71.95R BER2.2 Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; 11063081) Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 Opera 8.00 [en] UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0)

i disagre its a great phone.

NOOooooooooooooooooooooo; stick with the W810i, trust me! i would go back in a hot second it i had a choice.

I had problems with mine.. I do miss SE sometimes, and if I didnt love my d807, I'd probably use one again. I've caught myself looking at a k550i on occasion :]

But basically, you wouldn't like the v3xx's UI if you were a previous SE user.

Look, I sell these damn phones all day, every day, and I will tell you that almost 7 out of 10 phones that come in with customers complaining they are "broken"....they are Razors of some sort. It's gotten so bad that I now won't even sell a RAZR to somebody unless they agree to take insurance on the handset. Basically, if you drop it on the ground one time, it's done. The battery will stop holding a charge, or the screen will start to flicker. Definitely not the most durable of phones. If you need the styling and form factor of a "RAZR" type phone, then get the KRZR model, or at least take insurance.

The KRZR is slimmer, has a sharper camera, is more durable, and is also a music player like the V3XX.

Just a fair warning.

Yeah, ok.

I agree that SE has a much better UI than Moto. But when it comes to whats most important. (reception), SE cant hold a candle to Moto.

I wonder why...

Maybe, just maybe, most of the phones that are returned are RAZRs simply because most of the phones that are sold are RAZRs?

That's assuming your anecdotal evidence is valid on a nationwide scale, of course.

I like the V3xx, but Moto's current Synergy UI is a far cry from Sony Ericsson's. You might be better offf waiting for AT&T's new SEs, or getting a phone with a less dated UI.

lol I knew it wouldn't be long before somebody came along and told me I don't know what I'm talking about.

Actually, to address your "maybe, just maybe", most of the phones sold at the three stores I work at are Samsung SYNCs and LG CU400's, and I'm willing to bet that my "anecdotal evidence" is actually a pretty solid litmus test of the national market. We sell ALOT more of those two phones than we sell RAZRs, and they almost never come back with a complaint.

What possible reason would a "lowly cell-phone salesman" be trying to talk somebody into a less expensive phone? Because that less expensive phone would cause less headaches down the road for everyone involved.

Uh, wow. Just...wow.

You use purely anecdotal evidence to support your claims, I question it, and then suddenly I'm telling you that you don't know what you're talking about because you're a lonely cell phone salesman? Insecure much?

Cluestick: Anecdotal evidence is never convincing. Ever. You could be the President of AT&T, Motorola, or the United States and say "I've had ten RAZRs and I broke every one of 'em!" and that wouldn't mean anything to me. Why? Because anecdotal evidence isn't good support for an argument. (Which is why posting a link with "more proof" in the from of more anecdotal evidence won't convince me, either.)

It has nothing to do with me attacking your position or anything. Christ.

I was trying to offer the original poster some "caveat emptor" about my personal experience with the V3XX and the RAZR line of phones in general. That was all. Then you come along out of nowhere and start giving me a middle-school lesson on empirical data. He/she can choose to take it or leave it; he/she can buy 30 V3XX's for all I care.

Damn, that'll be the last time I pass on any kind of experiential information on this board again. It seems as though cell-phone weenies are worse than computer nerds when it comes to defending thier equipment choices.

Who cares, I know V3, V3i, V3xx, V3M, name the model as you will, is a fragile phone. This isn't news to me.

I'm with Ryan M on this one the moto ui is my favorite and is unmatced in the customization dept. IMHO the SE ui is good but overated.

Even though the w810 is a nice gimmicky phone it can't hold a candle to the v3xx!

Posted by: thraven233

As I mentioned earlier, I tried to like the v3xx, but when it died on me two times in a row I was very much turned away from it, and I think you would miss the SE UI. But if I remember correctly, I LOVED the phone before it quit on me. If your going to use it mainly to make calls/text, why not try one of the lower end SE models straight from them, like a w200a or one like it. I was trying to figure out why you would want to change from a k790 anyway!
