i880 - Can't delete texts?

Ok this one has me scratching my head. When I went to bed last night everything was fine. I received a few text messages this morning (phone was not turned off), after reading them I noticed the indicator was still on showing I had MORE texts. I scrolled a few pages over to find that all texts older than, say, 10 days, were now just showing up as blank envelopes, 0KB in size, and if you tried to "download" them it obviously comes up with Transport Error because they've already been downloaded. The worst part of this is that I can't delete them: I've tried manually deleting them, that doesn't work, inbox cleanup doesn't get rid of them, delete all doesn't work.
Anybody know how I can clear out these messages? TIA.

Nevermind, fixed it by taking the SIM out and putting it in another phone, then moving it back. Can't for the life of me understood what happened or why, though.
