i-mobile 310, no sound!

When calling somebody I can not hear anything, the phone's speaker is not working, when I plug in the headphones I can hear the other side just fine. It is being used with T-Mobile USA. For listening to music the speaker works perfect, so I think it is not a hardware problem. Is there any option to fix that, or it may be a manufacturer's defect.
Please share your opinions.

im sure the volume is turned up during the call, right?

yup, i know what you mean. i have the same problem. i can hear the caller but they cannot hear me. the mic must be ON because if i plug in the headphones, it works. does anyone know what we should do? i would really like to use the phone without having to use the headphones all the time. OR if there is such a thing as a retractable headphones, i'd be glad to use it.
