Does anyone know why on my v3xx..when i get to work my phone automatically goes to an edge network. I work for a cingular authorized agent and i have other phones that are 3g and they never change.

so when i get to work/home its in edge and it doesnt switch back to 3g i have to take the battery out and put it back in!

any help would be greatful

I've said it before and I'll say it again, it's the phones chipset. Don't know if you know or not but Moto uses their own propietary chips and not Qualcomms like everyone else.

I'm of the mindset that these propietary chips from Moto are inferior to the chips from Qualcomm, hence the difference.

My wife has SYNC and I have BlackJack both with Qualcomm chips and the phones STAY locked to the 3G network 90% of the time. With the V3xx the phone was on 3G like 65-70% of the time.

And why is that... ? Motorola's 'proprietary' chips are no more 'proprietary' than Qualcomms, or Nokia's.
I'd prefer to try Motorola's, as my Samsung ZX-20 has Qualcomm 3G (2nd phone - original was replaced under warranty), can't hold 3G to save its life. I suspect that it is the network itself, along with software phone settings. Here in So-Cal, calls I've made will typically lose 3G unless I force 3G on it.

When I see chip vendors giving the schematics, and not entering patent lawsuits over their chips, then I'll consider them non-proprietary.

Wirelessly posted (Moto RAZR V3XX: MOT-RAZRV3xx/96.71.95R BER2.2 Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; 11063081) Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 Opera 8.00 [en] UP.Link/6.3.0.0.0)

um i doubt its the chips and more of the way the phone is programed. if you force 3g it will hold the signal just as good or better. the way the v3xx behaves is that it kinda wants to lock on to the strongest signal it sees. as a result i often catch it roaming a lot when it doesn't need to. so in turn i have it locked to att and my reception is still fine.

Do the seem edit to enable the Advanced Network Menu.

As I previously stated I believe it's the chipset that Moto uses.
