Motorola V3M and BitPIM not communicating well

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I have read all the entries on how to setup/connect the above phone to communicate with BitPIM using the USB port. The phone is somewhat communicating because I can click on the Blue "i" and get system information back. The problem iswhen I try to download anything from the phone to the computer.
When I click on the "Get Phone Data" on the BitPIM screen, bottom center, the status bar says

BITPIM 1.0.1/Latest <unknown>
Retrieving fundemental phone info
Reading /MyToneDB.db

After about 5 seconds I get the following message. "Moto-V3C on COM6: The phone is not responding while manipulating the filesystem. See the help for troubleshooting tips"

That's it. I have tried two different USB cables, uninstalling and reinstalling BITPIM but always the same result. Software is installed on two machines. The first one is running Win2K SP4 and the second is Win XP SP2. The Error message appears on both.

Thanks, Tom

The V3M is not "natively" supported in bitpim... many have used the V3C support with varying degrees of success...

which drivers? I used the v2.60 drivers from the MotoDev site with my brother V3M and it worked... (they have since been upgraded, but I have a copy on my pages, use the How TO's link when you get to http://mark.cdmaforums.com )

BUT some using the Verizon V3M with bitpim have reported problems getting it to work. there were a few related threads in the Verizon/Moto section... Like -> http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=1135941
