Paypal delay?

To my understanding, you can have your paypal account set up 2 ways.
1) Pay via credit card
2) Linked to your bank account

So I just ordered a P1i off of x1387 on ebay, and paid the next day shipping and what not, so then I go to my paypal account and see that my expected payment clearance date is August 22, 2007, which is 8 days from now..THEN the product will ship..

So I'm not really getting "next day" shipping..

Can someone shed some light on this? Is that the standard procedure now?

If I knew it was going to take this long, I probably would've thought twice about ordering.

How is your paypal account setup? Are bills paid via credit card or from a bank account? I have my setup to pay from a credit card and have never had a payment delayed. The vendor always has received payment almost instantaneously. I do believe however if this is a new paypal account they may delay payment a little to verify information. Other than that it sounds strange, have you tried to contact paypal to get an explanation? If not try starting there.

Yeah I contacted paypal earlier today
They said that the only way for me to get instant transfer of funds is to pay with my credit card via paypal. But I have it set up so that my primary source is my chequing account.

I then told the woman that I've spoken to other people who have the exact same setup as I do, and that their transfers are almost instantaneous.
She told me that they must've used their credit card..so I dunno what to believe here..

Anyway, after speaking more with others Ive concluded that there is delay because I paid via Echeck?

I guess the only solution is to wait..

*sighs heavily with disppointment*

So its confirmed that its because I paid via echeck and because at the time of my purchase I hadnt added my credit card onto my account yet.

Has anyone ever cancelled a transaction with paypal?
Or is it against their policy to cancel?

I just went through this myself.

The credit card info I had to back up my direct bank transfer, expired. I mean, the expiration date on the credit card info I saved in Paypal had come and gone. Yea, I got a new card in the mail, but I never thought of updating its info on Paypal.

If you don't have an active credit card to back up your bank money transfer, Paypal does an eCheck instead of an immediate funds transfer. The eCheck is like just about a regular check, and you have to wait for it to clear, before the seller actually gets their money.

When Paypal automatically switched my payments from "instant" to "eCheck", I wish it highlighted that fact to me, and even more, highlight the reason for the change. But no.

Yeah I wish I had known that I needed my credit card added onto my acct.
Otherwise I wouldnt have ordered my phone right then and there..

Anyhow, I just checked my online banking today, and went to my recent transactions.

It states that I made a payment via paypal of $XXX.XX dollars, which was for the item I had purchased.

But when I check my paypal acct, it says the payment is still UNCLEARED.

Does that mean its in the process of going through?

Just because your bank has taken the money out of your account, doesn't mean that it is already in Paypal's hands. The "check is in the mail" still applies.
