i760 or 6800 on Verizon

I have lost my patience with Alltel and will hopefully switch to Verizon, assuming they release their new phones in my lifetime. I will be replacing a PPC6700 that has served me well. I want a full touch screen with the sliding keyboard. Is the i760 more of a smartphone?

I am in the Durham, NC area. I thought about the iPhone but the medical programs I need won't work on it and I just can't go to AT&T, the network is more important than the phone.

If there are better rumoured phones for Verizon please let me know.

Thanks for your help.

The VX6800 may be released in October, probably after the Samsung i760, which may be out very soon now. The specs and user's manual of the i760 are now linked here:

The most obvious difference is that the i760 has a phone keyboard on the front, which is more convenient for traditional phone dialing.

i760 has a lesser camera (1.3 vs 2.0 MP) if that's important to you.

But it seems to be using the same Windows Mobile Professional 6.0 operating system.

Same 64 MB RAM but only 128 MB ROM vs 256 on the 6800.

Lack of scroll wheel

Not sure about Rev A?

802.11b

Thanks for your help. I have heard a lot of positive press about the Samsung phones and do like the real keys for dialing a phone number. I will probably wait until they are both out and compare the two.

If the Samsung comes out soon I will probably try it out and be able to provide a more direct comparison with my Mogul. Good luck!
