Deleted text retrieval

Hi everybody,
I have a bit of an issue regarding my mobile phone that I was hoping someone from these forums would be able to offer assistance on. I've had a read around, and couldn't find anything that describes the situation I find myself in, which is why I've decided to ask in this way. Basically, I took out my T-Mobile SIM card from my SLVR RED phone, and swapped it for another one to help out a friend who needed to make a call when his battery on his phone was flat. When I put my SIM card back in, lo and behold, I found that I lost all my messages. I've only just found out that the phone can save up to 99 messages, which is 'locking the stable door after the horse has bolted' territory.
If you couldn't see where this is going, I was hoping if someone could tell me if the texts messages are still on the phone in a retrieveable format (even if I can only read them on my PC and/or Mac; I don't mind)? And secondly, how would I go about retrieving these 'deleted' messages so that they are readable on the phone itself, or on my computer?
I'm aware that the more texts I receive now, the more of the 'old' lot will be wiped, so you can appreciate that this is a time sensitive issue. If anyone has anything definitive to say on the matter; that is to say, if it's a lost cause, or if the texts can be retrieved, then this complete stranger to you will be all the more appreciative of your efforts.
Thanks in advance,
Dencht.
P.S. I'm re-posting this here, as it might be a more appropriate section of the forum.

There is a SEEM edit that will keep the phone from deleting SMS messages when a different SIM is put in the phone.
SEEM 004a_0001/004b_0001 Offset 1BE (00 for no deletion of inbox, outbox, drafts messages on SIM swap)
Note that you don't use "Bit Manipulation" for this--just change the value displayed in the offset.
(I learned this the hard way too, and now I store SMS on the SIM.)

Thanks to both of you. I had a sneaky feeling that they were gone, but thought I needed to explore the possibilities, just in case they could be retrieved.
I actually managed to find this QPST software (v.2.7) but have absolutely no idea as to how to use it, which buggers things as well...

Depending on the phone, swapping sims also deletes the received and made call list too!

Yeah, I found that happened too.
Ah well...
