I need help with my phone. I have a current service request in to MOTO but would like a second (third, fourth, etc :lol
opinion on the situation.
Phone is a Motorola V365 (the "contractor grade" Cingular/AT&T phone). Phone is used for personal day-to-day use and is not, nor has ever been subject to any water or harsh physical conditions.
When I first got the phone in Jan 2007, the first month, maybe two that I used it, every once in a while the phone wouldn't end calls properly. Whether I hang up or the other end does, the phone call itself would indeed end, but the display would continue to show "Connected" and counter keep counting. I remedied this each time by powering down and powering on the phone.
Also, lately, my ringers aren't working. Whether they're OEM ringers, or ringers I transfer to the phone via my memory card, I have intermittent issues. This has come on within the last 2 months. The phone will ring for a split second, then silence, then come back intermittently. If it is a song playing, the same thing periodically occurs. The song still plays, but the speaker almost appears to have a loose connection. Powering off and on the phone a few times sometimes fixes the issue. Other times, the phone works flawlessly.
Plus, my phone "crashes" like a windows computer sometimes. I have a friend on Speed Dial 4 (entry stored in the phone). Repeatedly, I've held '4' to have it display "Calling _____" where ____ is the friend's name. I put the phone to my ear, and after 10 seconds of silence, look down at the phone. Sure enough, the phone is all black like it powered off. Then all of a sudden, the screen displays all white, then everything (icons, text, and background image) all slowly pop back up (back to the main screen). It is like the phone periodically "reboots" itself.
I'm thinking this is something in the phone's firmware/software personally, rather than something physical.
I noticed a Master Clear and Master Reset, but when inquiring with Motorola about using either of these, they blatantly ignored me, refusing to comment.
Is there something I can try without destroying my warranty? Or does somebody know a Motorola Authorized Service Center in the Troy, MI 48084 area? Support sent me a link to their service locator, and nobody within 50 miles of me apparently repairs Moto phones (at least, is authorized to).
I don't want to pay to send my phone back (and am trying to get them to provide return shipping to me) as they screwed my order up and delayed it for a week initially due to their own issues.
Look forward to insight on this.

flashing or 'reseting a phone. is not a company thing, u have to do it urself. as for the ringers it could be that the data storage is screwed up, if it didnt go in teh rain or hasnt been dropped doesnt mean a phone is going to work forever.

Well, MOTO is sending me a return shipping label for the phone, so I'm going to use one of my old POS backups whilst they look at the phone. Worst case is they reflash the phone and don't see any of the intermittent issues I experience and I'm without it for a few days.
