I got some questions maybe some of you can answer.

I own a Tracfone..

Now whats the benifit of IS-95A, IS-95B, or IS-2000 modes.

and what are they used for?

Also *3001#12345# works.. but when i change the Alpha Tag it dosent change.. or when a reprogram emergency number it dosent change.

Also i heard that if you buy a cable you can put ur ringtones and wallpaper on it.. But i talk to sombody that said it wouldent let them even with the cable...

Let me know
Thanks!

^ These're the different network protocol revision or simply P_REV. IS-2000 is CDMA2000 1x (P_REV 6) while IS-95A (P_REV 2, which is basically the earlier standard of CDMA deployment in 800MHz) and IS-95B (P_REV 4 Phase I, which is the later standard of CDMA deployment in both 800/1900MHz) are the two protocols in the cdmaOne. cdmaOne is considered 2G digital technology while CDMA2000 is considered the 3G digital technology. However, the initial phase/standard of CDMA2000, 1x, is actually getting the "3G" taste but more realistically 2.5G performance.

Suggest you to read more about these in Wiki
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IS-95
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CDMA2000

None of that would offer significant "benefit" over the others for end-users in terms of voice calls, but 1x offers faster, packet switched data connection if Tracfone offers any kind of data service at all.

For the "Alpha Tag", make sure you haven't set anything different in Phone settings > Banner.

For the mod stuff w/ data cable, get a CA-42 (genuine Nokia recommended http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=832865 ) and try programs like MobiMB or Oxygen Phone Manager. Please Google for the official websites for more. Usage is pretty straight forward.
