The IPhone is fully hacked! Can work on Rogers now!

It's finally been done. All you need is a Turbo SIM Card from Bladox.com (currently sold out). The rest of the hack is done through software with the Iphone acting as a reader/writer. Check out iphone-hacks.com for the full details on it.

I wonder if the data plans from tmobile will work on the iphone

oh wait "First, your phone must be activated (with the AT&T SIM), "

I'm sure less-complicated hacks are coming

I doubt that very much, because the baseband is encrypted ...

Besides: the bladox solution is not a "hack". It's just a workaround which can be closed by apple by updating the baseband firmware.

Regarding the data plans: I'm using the iPhone (here in germany) with a o2 flatrate and it's working fine.

Even if you fully unlock your IPhone do we know how well it will work on other networks? do all the features (VM, Safari, Widgets) work on a non ATT network?

Visual Voicemail is a carrier (AT&T) dependant feature. It will not work on other networks. Data and voice should, however.

Then apple closes the hole and you are stuck with a real expensive iPod. Seems like an awful lot of work to play the cat and mouse game especially if you actually need to use your phone reliably

<Sigh>...this is the third thread I've seen on this already.

the TurboSIM does not "hack" or "unlock" the iPhone. It simply fools the iPhone into thinking it has an AT&T SIM (and therefore is on the AT&T network) even if another carrier's SIM is put in.

A "true" unlock would allow you to simply pop out one SIM, and pop in another carrier's SIM, easy as that, and it would work. Period.

So no, the iPhone is not "fully hacked", nor is it unlocked.

well, its a workaround for the impatient that allows you to fully use the iphone... good enough for me, and i'll gladly wait for reports about baseband changes before i upgrade, no biggie...

Posted by: alias420

As long as you don't update the firmware on the iphone until the hack is confirmed working on the update you will be fine. The only way Apple can close this hole is if you let them by updating the iphone.

Posted by: Roy

and + its not juist a simple update, its a radio firmware update (aka baseband) which afaik isnt somthing that gets updated all that often... anyways apparently it was "updated" in 1.0.1 but nothing changed.... so who knows...

anyways, always wait to see what these updated *really* bring...

Do you have all the services? SMS? Visiual Voice mail (doubt that one on Rogers - even with the TS)? YouTube? How did you get around the "First you need an AT&T activated Sim Card in Canada?" thing?

Just looking for a little more in depth Canadian perspective on what you say.

Personally I'm going to wait a bit longer.

visual voicemail is a feature dependant on the network, so unless rogers would have that, using the same standard as att (dunno if it is a standard), then no, it wont work. but the phone just falls back to regular voicemail calling

Ok there are several different iphone unlocking hacks out now ranging from using a Turbo Sim (bootstrap), hardware hack involving soldering and finally the easiest a software hack. I can personally confirm the iPhone working beautifully on Rogers in Toronto having watched my friend use the Turbo Sim method.

Also you DO NOT need to have an AT&T account at all you can pick up the phone from an Apple store in the United States then activate it using the activation hack that came out almost as soon as the iPhone was launched. All these hacks are confirmed to be working on Apple's latest firmware update 1.0.2

Has anyone actually been able to find someone that will sell the software hack. Engadget confirms it works but I can't no seems to be actually selling the program yet.

Ok, we don't need 50+ threads on the same subject. Please continue debating in one of the other threads dedicated to iPhone unlocking.
